BUSTING INTO SUNDAY 👻🏒 With no Tricks, ALL TREATS!!!!

The only thing scary this weekend should be the candy hangover. Here's the plan for the day after Halloween:

SCRIMMAGES CONTINUE: Development groups keep putting their skills to test with scrimmages. Time to bust out everything you've been practicing.

PASS THE PUCK: Ghosts can't stop a puck that's already moved. More passing, more teamwork, more goals.

SPORTSMANSHIP AND FUN: No tricks, just treats. Play hard, play fair, and cheer for everyone out there.

See you at the rink. Happy Halloween! 🎃

📅 TIMES THIS SUNDAY

🏒 See that empty spot on the boards?

That’s a real one. Right now it’s white vinyl and nothing else, and it’s been looking at us all season.

Here’s what goes with it: a full set of hockey gear costs a family over $300. We rent the whole kit for $25 a session, and over 100 kids use it every time we skate. Local businesses are the reason that number holds.

Sponsorships start at $300. We take them year-round, and new boards go up before January’s season opener.

Know a business that belongs on this wall? Drop a name in the comments — an intro from a parent beats a cold call every time. Details in comments 👇

Your mission for October 26th, should you choose to accept it, is this Sunday at the rink.

OBJECTIVE 1: SCRIMMAGES BEGIN
Our development groups graduate from skill drills to scrimmages. Time to put everything you've been practicing into action.

OBJECTIVE 2: MOUTHGUARDS ON
Mouthguards must be worn during game play. No mouthguard, no mission. Pack a spare in the gear bag.

OBJECTIVE 3: PASS THE PUCK
More passing, please. The best plays are team plays, and the puck moves faster than any skater.

OBJECTIVE 4: SPORTSMANSHIP AND FUN
Play hard, play fair, and cheer for everyone out there, on both sides. That's the part we're most proud of.

This message will self-destruct in five seconds. Just kidding, keep it handy and check TeamSnap for updates.

Good luck, hockey agents.

🏒 Every kid who skates at the ToV Hockey Rink at James Wood Middle School does so because people in this community decided it should. Many of these same people keeps rental gear affordable, so a $300 equipment bill never decides whether a kid gets to play.

Evolve Stone is one of those people. There would be a lot less hockey in this community without them. Thank you, Evolve Stone, for showing up season after season.

They manufacture, in Wi******er, VA at 200 Lenoir Dr Ste B, a patented, mortarless stone veneer that installs directly onto walls using a standard finish nailer just like traditional siding. Check out the comments for their website.

Huge stick tap, Evolve Stone. 🙏

For their long term support of ToV Hockey, they were presented with a framed jersey autographed by players.

Interested in sponsoring like Evolve Stone? Levels start at $300. Details in the comments.

🏒 Big Stick Taps to Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal has stood behind ToV Hockey for years, and their sponsorship does something specific: it covers the full cost of play for kids from active-duty military and veteran families. No registration fee, no gear bill. They lace up and skate.

That’s not a logo on a board — that’s families getting something back. Thank you, Navy Federal, for a partnership that keeps showing up season after season.

Navy Federal Credit Union has two locations in Wi******er (828 Berryville Ave & 195 Crossover Blvd) as well as Operations Centers (141 Security Dr). Check out the comments for their website.

For their long term support of ToV Hockey, they were presented with a framed jersey autographed by players.

Development groups will keep building on the skills we've been working on the past two Sundays. Recreational league players continue their group practices. Coach will have draft rosters on Sunday with games starting next week.

THE FORECAST (FINALLY)
Sunday is shaping up to be about as good as outdoor hockey gets: comfortable temperatures, cloud cover to keep the sun off, and no rain in sight. We've read it several times. We're still a little suspicious. But we'll take it.

WATCH TEAMSNAP FOR WEATHER
Forecast is Sunday is mixed. We will make the call as early as we reasonably can and post it to TeamSnap first — that is the fastest and most reliable place to get it. Please turn on notifications if you haven't already. We'd rather you hear it from your phone than from the parking lot.

See you Sunday. Dry thoughts, round three.

Opening day - Round 2. You may have noticed we've tried this before. Four consecutive opening sessions have been canceled or cut short by weather, which we're told is statistically improbable and, at this point, personally insulting. So this is Round 2 of Day 1, and we're going in with a plan: check the forecast, say nothing that might jinx it, and think happy, dry thoughts.

The forecast for Sunday looks good. We've read it several times. We are choosing to believe it.

One note on the heat: temperatures on Sunday are expected to be in the mid-80s, so please make sure your players arrive hydrated and bring a full water bottle. We'll have water and ice available at the snack bar, and we'll be taking regular breaks to get players into the shade and make sure everyone stays safe.

See you Sunday. Dry thoughts only.
