CDR's new Family Resource Center is already making a difference to our community.

🍂 Giving your child an age-appropriate “job” can help them feel important and needed while building confidence and practicing social and motor skills. It can be as simple as wiping down the table, helping sweep the floor, making their own snack, folding laundry, or setting the table for dinner.

And as older siblings head back to school, younger kids might start looking for their own way to feel involved, too.

The “job” doesn’t even have to be a household chore. Kids who look up to older siblings and parents might love having a little “office” of their own, where they can write letters, have pretend meetings with a toy phone, or type play emails on an old keyboard.

The point isn’t getting the job done perfectly. It’s giving kids a chance to contribute, practice new skills, and feel like they have an important role in the family. 🧡

CDR was delighted to welcome members of the Rotary Club of James City County to our new Family Resource Center today!

Thanks to the Rotary Club’s generous grant to CDR’s Motherhood Program, we have been able to purchase essential supplies for new moms who enroll in our services and support programs.

During their visit, Rotary members toured our new home at 312 Waller Mill Road and then rolled up their sleeves to assemble Welcome Bags for new moms using the very items their grant helped provide. It was a wonderful opportunity to see their generosity in action and the direct impact it will have on families in our community.

Thank you, Rotary Club of James City County, for your partnership and commitment to supporting local mothers and babies. Together, we are helping families get the strong start they deserve.
