Williamsburg residents- if you didn’t have an opportunity to go on any of the summer hikes to the dam ruins, there is another hike organized on November 10 from 1:00-3:00! See the image below for more information.

We got out to the Historic Dam Trail today to get it ready for the “Mill River Flood May 16, 1874: 150 Year Commemoration” which will include guided hikes on the trail to learn more about the tragic flood that took many lives and impacted the area. We are partnering this morning with some students from a class called “Natural Resource Conservation” at UMass Amherst to open up the view on the top of the Briar Hill trail. Come take a look from the top over to High Ridge and beyond to the 7 Sisters.

***TRAIL OPENING***

The Historic Dam Trail has been reopened! We're very lucky to have escaped major damage up there.

The bridge at Breckenridge crossing Blake Brook remains closed until further notice.

BRIDGE CLOSURE: The bridge crossing Blake Brook at the Breckenridge Sanctuary is temporarily closed due to washout.

The Historic Dam Trail also remains closed until further notice.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to assess damage from yesterday's flooding.

NOTICE: We're asking folks not to use the Historic Dam Trail until we've had a chance to assess damage tomorrow (Tuesday 7/11/23). Please exercise caution while hiking elsewhere in town, too - stay safe out there!
