We are saddened to learn of the passing of Tony Wallace, a long-time member of our campus community.
Anyone who has enjoyed a meal at Wilkes in the last two decades has likely experienced Tony’s hospitality. He started his career in the dining hall in February 2006, but his talents extended well beyond the third floor of the Henry Student Center. Tony was a fixture at sporting events, department cookouts, student activities, creative writing banquets and University celebrations of all kinds.
At Wilkes, Tony was known for his school spirit, welcoming smile, positive demeanor and welcoming attitude whether he was serving up made-to-order sandwiches in the dining hall or working a high-profile event. He had an unparalleled ability to strike up a conversation and make others feel comfortable. Tony took great pride in “The Grill Guy” nickname, coined during his two decades of exceptional service to the University.
As a community, we offer condolences to Tony’s family, friends and colleagues, as well as the students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests whose lives he impacted over the years.
