From not knowing how to hold a knife to serving a 3-course meal. ​During the past 5 weeks, our inaugural Cooking Up Confidence chefs learned kitchen fundamentals, flavor combinations, and teamwork. Watching them take charge of the kitchen Wednesday night and prepare dinner for 30+ hungry guests is proof that when a community invests in their young people, magic happens.

Messy fun in the Gather kitchen last night. ​And lots of teamwork and learning opportunities!
​This week our talented students mastered a delicious duo: homemade empanadas and edible cookie dough. They learned the science and art behind crafting perfect dough and how proper measurements and a little patience make all the difference.
​We're super proud of the culinary magic they created.
What’s better than a perfectly crimped empanada? The proud smile of the kid who made it! ✨

We were thrilled to host Mary Therese Biebel from the Times Leader last week to share more of the story behind Cooking Up Confidence, our youth culinary skills program!

At last night's Cooking Up Confidence class, our incredibly talented students decided breakfast isn’t just for mornings—they took on Breakfast for Dinner!
From mastering the recipe for fluffy French toast with homemade berry syrup to folding perfect, customized omelets, our teen chefs proved that with a little practice and a lot of encouragement, there’s nothing they can’t make.
Seeing the pride on their faces when they finished meals? Best part of the night. 🍽️💛
