For 24 years, Cherice has trusted the same primary care physician to care for her. Thanks to that physician’s participation in Project Access, Cherice continues to receive the medical care she needs without the financial burden of paying for her visits.

Cherice describes her physician as both a lifesaver and a life changer. She manages multiple chronic health conditions that re quire ongoing medical appointments, careful monitoring, and several medications. Because of her ongoing health challenges, finding and maintaining employment has been difficult. Project Access assists by connecting Cherice with donated medical care, allowing her to focus on her health and well-being rather than worrying about how she will afford the care she needs.

For Cherice, Project Access is more than access to a doctor, it is a lifeline. And it is made possible by generous healthcare providers who choose to share their time, expertise, and compassion with patients in need.

In the event of a house fire, a working smoke alarm is your best defense, as it immediately alerts you to the danger. During Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 4-10, 2026, SCFD1 will be out and about installing smoke alarms and providing inspections in the Oaklawn area.

98,598 is the number of hygiene essentials that Project Access patients have received since we began our community partnership with Simply Hygiene in April 2019. What a fantastic statistic as Simply Hygiene items like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry soap, lotion, toothpaste, etc., help offset already tight household budgets so that our patients can still afford to pick up their medications, pay for gas/bus to see their donating physician and/or put towards utility bills. Project Access loves Simply Hygiene!!

What is the proverbial saying, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade? For Sarah, she made a lemon cake.

Sarah had a donated procedure and felt pressure from her employer to return to work sooner than recommended. This caused a setback in her recovery and the inability to handle the physical demands of her job. Sadly, she was let go.

The good news is, Project Access had grant funding to bridge the gap. As a show of appreciation, Sarah baked a delicious lemon cake and brought it to a staff meeting . Thank you, Sarah, as your gesture of kindness was literally and metaphorically SWEET 🍋💛

Some stats for National Women in Medicine Month: MSSC has 357 practicing physician members who are women. MSSC’s first woman voted into membership was Dr. Sarah A. Noble in 1910. Continued prayers to the Duggins family ♥️

Today, we are remembering Kiah Duggins on what would have been her 32nd birthday. 🪽

Kiah was one of 67 people who lost their lives in the mid-air collision of American Airlines Flight 5342 and an Army Blackhawk helicopter near Washington, D.C., in January 2025.
