Back-to-school preparation is about more than checking supplies off a list. It is about helping every child walk into the new school year feeling prepared, included and ready for what comes next.

A $30 gift can help provide the school supplies and books a child needs to learn. A $50 gift can provide a new backpack and a fresh start. A $100 gift can open the door to field trips and learning experiences beyond the classroom. And a $150 gift can help a child participate in sports, music or another after-school activity where they can explore their interests and feel a sense of belonging.

Back-to-school season often brings move-in photos, dorm shopping and plenty of excitement. But for some young people supported by CASA, this time can look a little different.

This month, one young person is preparing to begin college with her volunteer advocate beside her. Her advocate is helping her find answers, plan for move-in, gather essentials and ensure important questions about her next steps are addressed in court.

A volunteer advocate may not be able to remove every uncertainty—but they can help make sure a young person doesn’t have to navigate it alone.
