A family stopped. A shelter cared. Volunteers loved on him. And now he’s home furever. It took a village of kindness to make Gary’s new life possible.

A note from Gary's family:
"Gary has already brought us a lot of joy and we deeply appreciate the kind family from Texas who found him on the highway, took him in, nursed him back to health, loved on him and then made a supreme sacrifice and drove him all the way to Wheaton.

We are happy that while he was with you, he was loved and cared for by your staff and, we were told, frequently taken on outings by volunteers.

A whole lot of wonderful gave us Gary--it's hard at times to see past some of the weeds in the Garden of this World, but the family in Texas and all of you...and Gary, are the flowers."

"I don't know how anyone overlooked her for so long, she is perfect!"

After spending over a month and a half in the shelter, Rebel, now Nelly, is thriving with her new family. "It's like she's lived here forever." She's sweet and gentle, perfect with kids, crate and potty-trained, and adored by so many. Nelly started her Underdog Package this weekend to assist with the transition out of shelter and into her new home.

Once overlooked, cherished now. Welcome home Nelly! 💙

Do you ever just see a cat and immediately know their name fits them perfectly?

Meet Big Cheddar 🧀🐾

Underneath all that cheddar-y confidence is a total sweetheart. Big Cheddar recently lost his home due to financial hardship, and it’s clear he was very loved. He came to us with his feline friend Goose (they’re buddies, but don’t have to go home together) and is now looking for a cozy place to settle back into the good life.

Sunny windows, long naps, and quiet companionship are basically his full-time hobbies. With his warm orange fur and easygoing personality, Big Cheddar is the kind of cat who instantly makes a house feel like home. 💛
