Before there was Ale to the Chief, there was Paul Newman behind the bar!

Back in the day, Westport's own Hollywood legend Paul Newman wasn't too famous to roll up his sleeves, mix a few drinks, or flip burgers to raise money for the Westport Historical Society (AKA Westport Museum!).

We wish Paul was still with us but this year we've got another big name in the house: George Washington!

Join us for ALE TO THE CHIEF on November 13, when we'll raise a glass to America's original celebrity—our first president—with historic wh**ky from Mount Vernon, hearty tavern fare, music, games, and plenty of revolutionary fun!

The drinks are historic. The cause is timeless. And unlike 1776, everyone gets a seat at the table!

Paul Newman knew that preserving local history was worth rolling up your sleeves for. Now it's our turn.

Come for the ale. Stay for the history.

November 13 | 6–8 PM, tickets at westporthistory.org

In October we recognize educators with World Teacher's Day (Oct 5) and the anniversary of President Carter's creation of the Department of Education (October 17). Did you know that the Connecticut State Hero, Prudence Crandall, was an educator and early advocate for equal education for African American young women?
