2025 was a milestone year for Bike Westport. We turned visibility, participation, and advocacy into real momentum for safer, more connected streets across town.

This year, we showed up everywhere—from community events like Kick-Off to Summer, Slice of Saugatuck, Westoberfest, and the Farmers’ Market—to schools and neighborhood streets. More than 1,000 community members signed our pledge for a more walkable, bikeable Westport, and families joined us for Rise & Ride events at Kings Highway School and Long Lots Elementary to choose active transportation together.

We also hosted Westport’s first-ever Bridge-to-Bridge Community Walk, showing how Riverside Avenue can become a safe, bike- and pedestrian-friendly connection between the train station, Saugatuck, and Downtown. Behind the scenes, we supported the Town with grant strategy and recommendations to help advance real funding opportunities—and we’re proud that our Co-Director, Jenna Petok, was elected to the Westport RTM.

Everything we accomplished in 2025 was powered by volunteers, partners, and neighbors who believe safer streets benefit everyone. As we head into 2026, we’re excited to expand community rides and walks, grow school programs, advocate for safer street design, and continue bringing funding to Westport. Thank you to everyone who rode, walked, volunteered, signed the pledge, and advocated alongside us—let’s keep building together.

During this election season, we saw something rare: real consensus. Across parties, neighborhoods, and generations, Westporters spoke with one voice about the need for safer streets, stronger connections, and a community that works for walkers, bicyclists, drivers, and residents of all ages and abilities. From candidate forums to conversations at doorsteps, walkability and bikeability became part of the town’s shared vision. Now it is time to turn that energy and common purpose into lasting change.

We’re proud to celebrate , our Co-Director at Bike Westport, for winning a seat on the RTM — with the highest number of votes in her district!

Congratulations also to , Westport’s incoming First and Second Selectpersons, who share a strong commitment to walkability, bikeability, and community connection.

And a heartfelt thank-you to and , for their positive, forward-looking campaigns and continued support for a safer, more connected Westport.

Over 1,000 residents have now signed the Pledge for a Walkable + Bikeable Westport — a clear sign that our community wants safer streets, stronger connections, and a healthier, more vibrant town.

Together, we’re building momentum — one step, one pedal, one pledge at a time.

For now, please 👉 Follow us on Instagram, we will be in touch soon with more.

Ride and walk safe,
Markus Marty & Jenna Petok
& team
