Sara, her partners, and donors empower nearly 500 underprivileged children each year, nurturing their writing and providing opportunities for education and community development in Kenya, Tanzania, & the Philippines.

Another feel good post from Lift the Lid!

We are happy to share the results of our 13th Annual Writing Competition at Mogonjet Secondary School in Kericho, Kenya. The awards we give are educational scholarships that help these hardworking students remain in school.

This year, Teri Pilotti, a Lift the Lid supporter and volunteer, thoroughly read and commented on each student’s essay. Teri is from Pennsylvania, in the United States, and has taken a heartfelt interest in Lift the Lid’s work. Thank you, Teri!!

Our goal is to help our students improve their skills and encourage them to keep expressing their thoughts in writing. Enjoy these special photos of our PROUD scholarship winners.

The National English Honor Society at Staples High School in Connecticut asked if their organization could work with Lift the Lid’s students on a cultural exchange project. Fantastic! We decided to start an online international book club. Our meetings have been thought-provoking, sincere, and a great opportunity for everyone to share their opinions and strengthen their speaking voices.

This news will make you happy, I promise!! I’ve known Stephano since he was in primary school and on the verge of being lost to the streets of Metro Manila. Now he is setting an example for the rest of our kids at the School in a Cart. Check out his story and some photos here! Another great part of springtime is Lift the Lid’s annual writing competitions! Our three sponsored schools in Kenya, and Happy Family Children’s Village at The Small Things in Tanzania participate (over 500 students!) — and every year the students improve in their writing and then enjoy a fun celebration when they receive their feedback.
