Asante Sana For Education Asante Sana for Education, Inc. was founded by Ashley Washburn after traveling to Tanzania and volunteering in pre-primary and primary schools.

She was struck by the amazing spirit and strength that these children possessed, and by their insatiable desire to learn. These children know that education is the key to realizing their dreams; unfortunately, due to poverty, disease and a general lack of resources, many do not have access to even a primary school education. Asante Sana For Education was founded to help empower these bright, curio

us and talented children by providing them with the tools and mentors they might not otherwise have access to, so that they can improve their lives, and the lives of their families and communities. Our 3 main projects are Building Primary Schools in remote villages, operating a Montessori Preschool (2017) in downtown Bagamoyo and the Students Empowering Students Program.

A week of excitement and progress in Bagamoyo with our Asante Sana For Education team.During the first week of my surprise visit I was able to visit Seratiani to check on her new house and new leg, deliver 172 Days For Girls kits to a group girls at the Fukayosi Secondary School who had attended class a few weeks back but we were short on the kits;Asante Orange and Simsbury Connecticut DFG Chapters for the 200kits I was able to bring with me; attend a BEE Montessori Preschool Parents meeting as well as see all our little BEEs during the school days, watch our amazing Students Empowering Students team in action during a computer class and visit the site of the future Asante Sana For Education Campus - expected to be completed early 2027.

It truly takes a global team to help keep girls in school.

A heartfelt thank you to the Days For Girls chapters in Simsbury, Orange, New Milford and Rocky Hill, Connecticut and Nashua, New Hampshire for their incredible support and generous donation of Days For Girls Kits.

On March 11, our Asante Sana For Education Days For Girls team taught health classes in Swahili at Niajema and Kingani Secondary Schools. Without teachers present, the girls felt comfortable asking many thoughtful questions, and the classes ran longer than planned.

We distributed all 300 kits we carried to Tanzania in five 70-pound suitcases. Before the distribution, our Students Empowering Students members added washcloths, soap, and chupi (panties) to each kit.

We are deeply grateful to Days For Girls for helping make this life-changing program possible. 💛
