Join us Sunday, June 28 for the final hike in our series 'Community in Motion: A Seasonal Hiking Series with Lhakpa Sherpa & JFS'. This nature-based hiking series is designed to promote emotional wellness, resilience, and community, for those in recovery or those simply seeking connection.

Led by Lhakpa Sherpa, a renowned climber who has now summitted Everest 11 times, the program will help participants explore inner strength, restore confidence, and experience the healing power of the seasons through themes of resilience, hope, and thriving. We will begin and end each walk with a mindfulness practice and the opportunity to learn from Lhakpa. All hikes are free and open to adults in our community.

Today is Holocaust Survivor Day, when communities around the world come together to honor the extraordinary individuals who survived the Holocaust and rebuilt lives, families, and communities.

JFS is proud to serve Holocaust survivors across Connecticut as the state's official coordinating agency. We provide counseling, case management, emergency assistance, applications for reparations and compensation, kosher food, and in-home care.

This we're remembering the meaningful memories we made last summer, when campers and counselors from the Mandell JCC's Camp Shalom planted fresh herbs at Jessie's Community Garden. They also packed 85 pounds of spices to distribute to clients at our Anja Rosenberg Kosher Food Pantry!

JFS offers a variety of volunteer activities for groups, individuals, and families during the summer and all year round... and we would love to have you join us!

Contact Laura Miacola, our volunteer and employee experience coordinator, at [email protected] to learn more.
