PJ Library Greater Hartford PJ Library of Greater Hartford is a Jewish family engagement program. Some events will be held virtually.

In addition to the free books that are mailed each month to your children, we offer a variety of programs and Jewish holiday events for everyone to enjoy. PJ LIBRARY provides some of the very best of Jewish children's books delivered directly to your child’s home. There is no cost to the family thanks to the generosity of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and amazing donors in our community. Here in

Greater Hartford we offer a wide range of events and activities to help all families experience holidays, Shabbat, and Jewish values with others. We even have a PJ Library Room in the Family Room at the JCC that you are always welcome to visit. The PJ Library program sends age appropriate books and surprises for children ranging in age from birth to 8+ years. The next chapter is PJ Our Way for the 9 to 12 year olds who can select a novel each month. www.pjlibrary.org www.pjourway.org
Every PJ Library book arrives in the family's mailbox with an accompanying printed reading guide on the book flaps. The guide provides information about the Jewish concepts referred to in the book and suggests activities to expand upon the topics in the story. The PJ Library program offers materials for children ranging in age from birth to 8+ years. PJ Our Way provides novels and more for the 9 to 12 year olds.

Dolly was a hero to teachers, parents, readers, librarians ...and pretty much anyone who knew of her commitment to improving children's life chances. Since 1995, her Imagination Library has donated millions of books to children worldwide. Her initiative gave Harold reason to create the PJ Library program to send Jewish literacy directly to families. Our community was one of the first to benefit from this amazing gift that is now worldwide. May her memory be a blessing.

PJ Library and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation team are sad to learn of the passing of musician, philanthropist, and American legend Dolly Parton. Dolly's Imagination Library helped inspire Harold Grinspoon to found PJ Library in 2005.

When Harold had the privilege of chatting with Dolly in 2023, she shared the following with him: "I am honored to get to help inspire a love of reading in children. They truly are our future."

Harold remembers Dolly as "a truly amazing person--not only a great artist, but a great entrepreneur and philanthropist. We honor Dolly for educating millions, for her remarkable career, her kindness, her art, and especially her generosity."

Everyone in the greater Jewish community is welcome—families, friends, members, and anyone looking for a little Jewish connection this summer. Bring the kids, bring a friend, and come as you are!
