Thank you to the Emily's Dash Foundation.

Every step we take towards defeating meningitis is made possible by people who refuse to let the impact of meningitis be forgotten.

That's why we're so grateful to the Emily’s Dash Foundation, established by Emily’s parents, Sue and Al Koenig, in memory of their daughter Emily Grace Koenig. Emily tragically lost her life at just 12 years old to bacterial meningitis.

Through their generosity, her life and legacy continue to inspire action to protect others around the world from meningitis.

Following World Meningitis Day on the 5th October, Emily’s Dash Foundation made a vital funding contribution to the Meningitis Progress Tracker, helping secure its future. This remarkable commitment is ensuring that advocates, researchers and policymakers have access to the evidence needed to drive change – change that can reduce the impact of meningitis across the world.

To Sue, Al and everyone at the Emily’s Dash Foundation, thank you for helping make Emily’s legacy lasting action and hope for future generations.

As part of their World Meningitis Day efforts and to honor the memory of their precious daughter, Emily Grace Koenig (tag), Emily’s parents have committed to making an annual grant from Emily’s Dash Foundation (EDF) at Chester County Community Foundation (CCCF) to support the Meningitis Progress Tracker at the Meningitis Research Foundation. The Meningitis Project Tracker is being utilized worldwide to accelerate progress toward defeating meningitis and in conjunction with the WHO’s Global Roadmap to Defeat Meningitis by 2030. Emily’s Dash Foundation is participating in the campaign this to honor those whose lives have been lost or forever changed by
meningococcal meningitis.

This empty chair represents a loved one who should still be here, our beautiful daughter, Emily Grace Koenig, who suddenly lost her life to bacterial meningitis at the young age of 12.

Emily’s classmates at Villa Maria Academy painted her desk chair & gave this to us in memory of her. They signed all of their names in the hearts. Her teacher at the time was Mr. Miller.

I’ve joined American Society for Meningitis Prevention’s (ASMP’s) campaign to share Emily’s story so that others understand the importance of prevention through vaccination. There was no vaccine available to the public when Emily died. Meningococcal meningitis moves quickly and unpredictably and the symptoms mimic the flu.

As World Meningitis Day approaches on 10/5/26 and in memory of their precious daughter, Emily Grace Koenig, Emily’s parents have directed a grant from the Emily's Dash Foundation at Chester County Community Foundation to support the Meningitis Progress Tracker (MPT) at the Meningitis Research Foundation. The MPT is a tracking tool being utilized worldwide to accelerate progress toward defeating meningitis in conjunction with the WHO’s Global Roadmap to Defeat Meningitis by 2030.
