🏥 Health and Wellness
Taking care of our community’s health is a top priority! Our free CHEC-Point Clinic, run by Chester County Hospital and volunteer nurses from West Chester University, provides essential health services. We also offer the 21-21-21 program, a sliding scale 21-day plan that includes guided exercise, nutrition counseling, and healthy meals, specifically aimed at weight loss, heart health, and diabetes prevention. We're here to help our community thrive! 💪

🗣️ Community Advocacy
We're here to help Chester County residents overcome barriers to success. Our Community Advocacy program partners with social service agencies to connect individuals with essential resources like housing, job training, transportation, childcare, legal counsel, and more. We’re committed to being a strong voice and a helping hand for those who need it most. 💙

🌱 Personal Development Workshops
Discover your purpose and unlock your potential with our Life Manual workshops! 🌟 Empowering Through Culinary Arts 🌟

At Two Fish and Five Loaves, we believe in the power of food to transform lives. Through our Filet of Soul Culinary Institute, we’re not just teaching culinary skills—we’re providing opportunities, building confidence, and creating pathways to brighter futures. From training the next generation of chefs to supporting adults with barriers to employment, our programs are making a real impact in West Chester and Coatesville. Here’s a closer look at how we’re serving our community through these vital initiatives:

🍽️ Culinary Training for Youth 🍽️
We’re proud to offer the Filet of Soul Culinary Institute program for youth, targeting economically disadvantaged young people aged 14-24 in West Chester and Coatesville. Through this program, students gain valuable culinary skills, paid work experience, ServSafe certification, and soft skills education. We also provide transportation, resume building, and job placement assistance. With the accommodation and food service industry offering a wealth of job opportunities for youth, this training sets them on a path to success! 🌟 Participants hone their skills while contributing to our Charitable Meal Preparation and Delivery Program and working in our upcoming Community Café.

👩‍🍳 Culinary Training for Adults 👨‍🍳
Our Filet of Soul Culinary Institute program for adults is designed to support individuals with barriers to employment, including returning citizens, single parents, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. This free program offers culinary training, ServSafe certification, paid work experience, worker advocacy, and essential resources like transportation and child care. We’re especially focused on empowering women who have experienced trauma, including domestic abuse, addiction, and incarceration. Participants gain hands-on experience through our Charitable Meal Preparation and Delivery Program, catering events, and future work in the Community Café. We’re here to help build brighter futures! 🌟

❤️ Charitable Meal Preparation & Delivery 🍲
During these challenging times, our Filet of Soul Culinary Institute has stepped up to support our community’s most vulnerable. Since the pandemic began, we’ve prepared and distributed over 26,000 charitable meals to low-income individuals in West Chester and Coatesville, providing not just food, but hope and care. Thanks to generous grants from local organizations, we’re able to continue this essential service. Our meal program has reached senior centers, housing complexes, and shelters, and we’ve even provided disaster relief, recently aiding those impacted by Hurricane Ida. We’re expanding our efforts to offer even more meal distribution days—both on-site and off-site. Together, we can nourish our community! 🌍

🎉 Announcing the Launch of the 2Fish Holistic Wellness Hub! 🎉

We are beyond excited to share the incredible news of the official launch of the 2Fish Holistic Wellness Hub at the historic Charles A. Melton Arts & Education Center! This groundbreaking initiative is poised to serve as a model for community healing, bringing vital, holistic, and equity-based services to marginalized and underserved populations.

At the core of this initiative is Two Fish and Five Loaves Community Cafe, Inc., a nonprofit established in 2016 by Lisa A. Morris and her husband Traci. Originally the charitable division of their social enterprise restaurant, Filet of Soul, our nonprofit was reimagined in 2020 with Jill Swavely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, our dedicated team prepared and distributed over 30,000 meals to low-income seniors and families in need.

The 2Fish Holistic Wellness Hub is a collective impact project designed to pool resources and support services under one roof. This vision took root through years of successful collaboration at the Melton Center, a beacon of hope for West Chester and Coatesville communities since 1918. In 2022, the leadership of both the Melton Center and 2Fish made an intentional decision to unite their efforts to provide comprehensive support and healing for the community.

Thanks to the overwhelming support from nonprofits, local businesses, public officials, and community members, we've secured over $2.3 million in funding for three years of programming! Here’s a glimpse of what the 2Fish Holistic Wellness Hub will offer:

🌟 The Life Manual Institute (LMI): A 12-week certification program that empowers individuals through self-discovery workshops, mental health counseling, financial literacy classes, and more. Participants create their own Life Manual, guiding them to live their best lives.

🌟 Youth Services: Doubling the capacity of the existing New Directions After School Program to address learning loss and foster academic and emotional growth for K-12 students through tutoring and mentoring.

🌟 Affordable Childcare: Establishing a childcare center within the Melton Center to support working families, program participants, and those in transition.

🌟 2Fish Community Café: Opening its doors on March 28th, our café will serve plant-based international soul food, offering healthy alternatives to traditional cuisine. The café will also provide culinary training, host community events, and support wellness activities.

Lisa Morris, Executive Director of Two Fish and Five Loaves, shares, "We are thrilled to introduce the 2Fish Community Café as part of our holistic wellness project. This café represents our commitment to serving the community by offering not only nourishing food but also opportunities for employment and personal growth. We believe that by coming together over a shared meal, we can foster connection, healing, and positive change."

The launch of the 2Fish Community Café and the holistic wellness hub marks an exciting new chapter in our ongoing efforts to build a healthier, more equitable community. Through collaboration, compassion, and dedication, we are working together to create positive change and empower individuals and families to thrive. This innovative collective impact project is destined to serve as a model for community healing.

Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone! Stay tuned for more updates, and we look forward to your continued support and involvement.
