We had a great time at Turks Head Wines last year and I’m excited to go back! Their fireplace and comfy seating were made to pair with a good book. (Not to mention their wine… and they also do cocktails now!) Bring your own book, settle in to one of the coziest spaces in town, and read with fellow book lovers.

Pick a book, any book… There’s nothing quite like reading on a rainy day, and it’s nice to get out and meet up with others who like to do it too!

Loved seeing everyone who brought their books to read together on this rainy Sunday. We had a nice mix of genres… with general fiction leading the way today.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their holiday weekends! And that we dry out - and warm up - soon. (Let’s all hope for better weather for the June 13 meetup, yes?)

And again, a big thank you to the for letting us come in from the rain. Be sure to support your local businesses if you can… this weather sucks for them, too!

The Oscar Lasko YMCA and Childcare Center wanted us to come back… we just didn’t know it would be so soon. 😄

As much as I hate to give in to the weather, it’s not looking good for an outdoor meetup on Sunday morning. So how about this — we’ll meet at the YMCA instead?

I’ll buy some Rose's Little Donuts ahead of time, and if you can go there for your coffee, that would be awesome. But either way, let’s meet at the YMCA at 10:00. Note: you must bring a photo ID to be admitted to the building.

I’ll open up tickets if cancellations come through, and since there’s a bit more space ( https://www.eventbrite.com/e/silent-book-club-west-chester-at-oscar-lasko-ymca-tickets-1989749555483?aff=oddtdtcreator ). We’ll be gathering in their gymnastics-viewing room like last time, so if you think a portable chair would be more comfortable, please bring one!

Now the real question: Do you sink into the gloomy rainy-day mood or do you escape into a sunny read?

Who are your “If They Write It I’ll Read It” authors? Chuck Wendig is one for me. So even though I wouldn’t normally pick up a contemporary fantasy book about warring demon families, I’m reading THE CALAMITIES because he wrote it.

Thing 32 that I love about West Chester: quiet mornings downtown. Thing 37: even quieter summer holiday weekends. So let’s try a Last Minute Holiday Special!

Have you been to ? (Yes.) Well, did you know they have outdoor space out back?

If you’re not going away for Memorial Day Weekend, stop on by for a quiet reading hour outdoors to kick off your Sunday.

On May 24, come grab coffee and a donut and head out back to the patio. They’ve got some seats, or you can bring your own chair if you’d be more comfortable.

How does it work? June 13 is National Get Outdoors Day… so we have to try for an outdoor meetup, right? (We’re also going to venture outside of downtown for the first time - just about a 10-minute drive.)

Have you ever been to Matlack Florist Garden Center? It will be a gorgeous place to sit outside, amongst plants, and read together. I’m excited to share photos a week before the meetup, but there is a sneak preview here because, guys, THEY HAVE A LITTLE FREE LIBRARY! *ahem* (When I saw that, I knew it was meant to be.)

Please bring a portable chair for this meetup. Matlack Florist has both covered and not-covered areas, so the sun or no-sun choice is all yours! (If it rains too much to be outside, the rain date will be Sunday, June 14.)
