Thanks to everyone who came out to the Books and Brews Philly Book Swap at Bierhaul Townhouse yesterday… and to those who came - or stayed - for the Quiet Reading Hour after! It was nice to see people get a head start on a book they had just picked up. Hope you got something you like!

There were lots of great books available for the swap, plus blind dates and new books from BookmarksWC. I scored a rom com that was already on my TBR and was happy to see the books I brought find new homes. General Fiction won the day in the Genre Log.

Now I’m looking forward to some great Autumn meetups. Next up is Carlino’s Market on September 12… it’s currently full, but if you join the waitlist I’ll be sure to let you know if space opens up!

Let’s go back… back to the beginning (kind of). A second September meetup has been set for the Cutter and Cannon Spirits Bottle Shop and Tasting Room. Have you checked them out yet? This great local distillery recently opened their tasting room downtown… and I couldn’t resist the chance to celebrate our first anniversary back where it all began.

On September 20, 2025, we had our very first meetup in this space! Whether you were there for that first meetup or you haven’t had the chance to join us yet (or anything in between), anyone is welcome to come! Silent Book Club West Chester is partnering with Books and Brews Philly for a West Chester Book Swap on August 30. Did you get a ticket? If so, what are you bringing?

I figured I’d post the books I’m planning to bring in case you want to be on the lookout for anything. I’ve read most of these, but not all of them. 😬 Of the ones I’ve read, I can recommend most of these, but not all of them. 👀

I had an extra copy of DEVIL INSIDE that I got signed last week, and I want to make sure it goes to a fan. So if you already love Clay or if you’ve got this on your TBR, find me at the swap and if I still have it, it’s yours.

What are you planning to bring? If you tag me, I’ll share it in a Story so people can do some browsing in advance. I can’t believe it’s only a week away!!!

Have you heard? (Of course you have!) There’s a new bookstore opening in West Chester on Saturday, August 22! Leaves & Lore is located next to the Hotel Warner at 118 N. High Street.

The visionaries at Leaves & Lore must have access to my brain because they’ve built my dream bookstore. Dark, moody, cozy, gorgeous.

When the door closes behind you, you will exhale and feel the stress leave your body. Take a deep breath, look up at the gorgeous ceiling, sit in a comfy chair.

The level of detail is incredible; it’s so well curated, with so many thoughtful touches. I just know I’ll see something new every time.

It even has the most beautiful bathroom in West Chester. (Like I said, it’s all in the details.)

They hosted a great event this past Sunday with Twilight Event Co. where even the cloudy weather cooperated to set the mood. We took part in a scavenger hunt (which was a great way to explore the store), sipped some Twin Valley Coffee, and got some beautiful flowers.

As proof of their diverse selection, I bought one of my all-time favorite Abby Jimenez rom coms and pre-ordered the new Rachel Harrison horror novel. The store itself may feel fantasy-focused, but they really have it all.

The team there should be SO PROUD of what they have built. It’s just the most welcoming space. I look forward to many, many, many visits… or just moving in — maybe a spot in the basement?

Coffee and a bakery (and a book) to kick off a Saturday? Yes, please! For a September meetup, we’ll gather at Carlino’s in West Chester for just that.

Carlino’s has always been my go-to place when I want to create an awesome charcuterie board. But they have so much more… including a great coffee shop and bakery!

How does Silent Book Club work? Thank you to everyone who joined us for a Summer Friday meetup yesterday! And thanks to my friends at YMCA of Greater Brandywine for hosting us again!

The timing worked out perfectly, since we got to stop by Leaves & Lore for their soft opening. I’m so excited for them… it’s every bit as beautiful as you think it is!

The most-read genre this time around was non-fiction.

Next up: August 30 at BierHaul Townhouse. If you didn’t get tickets for the Book Swap (it sold out quickly!), you can join us for the Silent Reading Hour, which will kick off at 3:00. So come a little earlier, grab a drink, and head upstairs.
