What connects a 27-year-old prisoner and a mom of two little ones? A retired business owner and a high school dropout? An empty nester and an ex-con?

On paper, nothing. Different zip codes. Different schedules. Different stories. The world looks at that lineup and sees no thread, no through line, no reason any of them should share a pew, a Bible study, a meal, or a life.

The world doesn't understand it. It's a mystery to them.

"…the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:26-27)

Christ in you. Christ in her. Christ in him. That is the thread. That is the only thread strong enough to tie a prisoner to a young mom, a retiree to a dropout, an empty nester to a man just released from two decades inside. The Spirit of the living God indwelling ordinary people and stitching them together into one body that the world cannot explain.

And here is the beautiful part: that mystery is not meant to be admired from a distance. It is meant to be lived out. The same Spirit that connects us is the same Spirit that sends us. Into prisons. Into recovery groups. Into nursery rooms and tutoring centers and hospital hallways and back porches with neighbors who don't yet know His name.

Ministry is not a calling reserved for the polished or the credentialed. It is the natural overflow of Christ in you. The 27-year-old prisoner and the mom of two little ones really do belong to the same family. The retired business owner and the high school dropout really are brothers. The empty nester can offer something the ex-con needs, and the ex-con can offer something the empty nester needs. This is the beauty of the gospel.

This is your reminder that the church the world cannot explain is the church the world most desperately needs to see today in you. Click the link to see how you could fit into this puzzle: https://jumpstartsc.org/

From 10 foster and group homes to 10 years in prison, Morris Wood had never known a solid foundation. Until he found one in Christ.

While incarcerated, Morris gave every minute to God's Word and growing in his faith. When he was invited to lead a JUMPSTART group inside the prison, he prayed on it and said yes. God used him to lead others, and built him in the process.

When Morris walked out of prison, our transitional team was waiting. Today he's working for the landscaping team, saved up and purchased his first car, and living proof that no matter what you've done or where you've been, God is able to use it for good.

"As long as we are willing to give what we have to Him, He will multiply it." - Morris

This is why we do what we do. Read the full blog post here: https://jumpstartsc.org/meet-morris/

Behind the walls, we hear the same story again and again: "My grandmother prayed for me." "My grandfather took me to church." "I haven't thought about those Sunday mornings in thirty years, until now."

Seeds planted decades ago by faithful grandparents are sprouting in prison cells across South Carolina. A hymn half-remembered. A verse memorized as a child. The smell of a worn Bible on a kitchen table. These small, faithful moments don't disappear. They wait.

To the grandmother who prayed over a sleeping grandchild. To the grandfather who read Scripture at the breakfast table. To the ones who slipped a Bible into a backpack, who took little hands to church, who whispered Jesus' name into childhood:

Your seeds are still growing.

In our ministry, we meet men and women who tell us they found their way back to God because they remembered the Jesus they saw in you. A song you sang. A verse you taught. The way you talked to Jesus like He was in the room.

You may have wondered if it mattered. It mattered.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." — Proverbs 22:6

This past Monday night at Topgolf was spent with people who believe restoration is worth investing in. Huge thank you to everyone who showed up, sponsored, volunteered, and helped make the event possible. Nights like this remind us that real change happens through community, consistency, and people willing to step in together.

A huge thank you to our Top Golf sponsors for helping drive hope forward through JUMPSTART SC.

Your support does more than fund an event. It helps create real opportunities for men and women rebuilding their lives after incarceration. Safe housing, meaningful work, mentorship, and community become possible because people and organizations choose to step in. We are grateful for every sponsor who chose to be part of this mission.

"Jesus, I sing for all that you've done for me.."

Thursday night hit different with live worship in the room! Thank you so much to the worship team at Greer First Baptist Church for leading us in praise to our God! Great food, powerful worship, and even better conversations with our community. We cannot do what we do without our church partners!

To know the right thing to do and to do it are two completely different things. To acknowledge a need for help and seek someone out. To see a pattern of addiction and face it. To see a better path and to take it. If you've been a Christian for any length of time, you know that the working out of our faith is a painstaking process. It's not always linear, and if we're honest, we all stray far more frequently than we'd like to admit.

The men and women we walk alongside begin to fully understand this outside those walls. The difference between those who fall away and those who find their footing isn't willpower or our program. It's who they place their strength in. Jesus Christ, who meets people exactly where Romans 7 leaves them. Desperate to live differently.

This is the process of becoming more like Christ. It happens in a thousand small surrenders, most of them invisible to everyone but God. The war being waged inside every believer is the same one Paul writes about in this text. So, this spring, the question isn't whether you know the right thing to do. You probably do. The question is whether you're willing to take the next step toward it.

Where are you growing in this season?
