PCMDC’s Annual Juneteenth Celebration is coming back Friday, June 19 from 11 AM–4 PM! ❤️🖤💚
We’re spending the day together with:
🔥 grilling
🎶 music
🎨 crafts
🎲 games
🍉 food
❤️ community
We’ll have burgers and hotdogs on the grill, and if you’ve got something you want to throw on the fire, bring it along!
This is a community-style gathering, so we’d also love for folks to bring a side dish, dessert, fruit, drinks, or something special to share.
Juneteenth celebrates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
For generations, Black families celebrated with church gatherings, cookouts, music, storytelling, games, and shared meals long before Juneteenth became a federal holiday.
So we’re honoring that tradition the best way we know how:
together.
Families, elders, neighbors, summer program students, alumni, and community members are all welcome.
Because what’s a celebration without your people?
