They’re healthy, social, and already preparing to attend adoption events right away, which means this should only be a temporary foster commitment until they find forever homes!

Outdoor cats are breeding faster than rescues can keep up — leading to endless litters, suffering, and overcrowded colonies.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is the most effective and humane way to stop the cycle of suffering. Community cats are humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to the colony they know.

If you’re feeding stray cats, caring for a colony, or know of outdoor cats needing help, please reach out as our capacity has recently expanded allowing us to take on new sites and help more cats (and people!) across WNC.

Salem’s Sanctuary is opening a low-cost, nonprofit veterinary hospital this summer right here in Waynesville —focused on making care financially accessible for both pets and community cats.

This isn’t corporate-owned care.
This is patients over profit.

Every day, we see cats and dogs go without care simply because it’s too expensive. Community cats continue to multiply. Injuries go untreated. Preventative care like flea/tick and vaccines gets skipped.

We’re changing that.

This clinic will provide:
🐾 Affordable spay & neuter for cats and dogs
🐾 Low-cost vaccines and flea/tick prevention
🐾 Affordable treatment for injuries and common conditions
🐾 Dental care and advanced procedures at a fraction of corporate prices
