You found the one. Maybe it’s the goofy hound with the giant ears. Maybe it’s the cat with the captivating eyes. So what happens next?

The first step is filling out an interest form. This lets us know you’re interested in a specific animal and helps our Adoption Coordinator start learning a little about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a companion.

Meet and greets are scheduled in the order that interest forms are received. If an animal catches your eye, submitting an interest form is the best way to start the conversation and get in line to meet them.

One important thing to know: submitting an interest form does not automatically reserve or guarantee adoption of that animal. Some of our pets receive multiple interest forms, sometimes within hours of being posted. Our goal is always to find the best match for both the animal and the adopter, so we work through inquiries in the order they’re received and evaluate each potential placement individually.

Once it’s your turn, our Adoption Coordinator will reach out, usually by phone, to learn more about your lifestyle, current pets, and what you’re hoping for in your future family member. It’s not a test. It’s a chance for us to answer questions, share what we know about the animal, and help determine if it’s a good fit.

From there, we’ll schedule a meet and greet. While we do accommodate walk-ins, appointments take priority. As a small team with one Adoption Coordinator, scheduled appointments allow us to dedicate time to you and the pet you’re interested in without feeling rushed.

At the end of the day, our goal isn’t just getting pets adopted. It’s helping pets and people find the right match. A little extra time on the front end helps create successful adoptions, smoother transitions, and happy endings for everyone involved. 🐾

Bohdi recently went on an outing with our Behavior Coordinator and showed everyone what a good boy he is. For a dog who doesn’t exactly put “road trips” on his vision board, he did great in the car, walked beautifully on leash, and even showed off a few tricks along the way.

Bohdi is the kind of dog who likes to take his time getting comfortable. He’s a sensitive soul who needs patience, understanding, and people willing to let him move at his own pace. But once you’re in his circle? Get ready for the big slobbery smiles, loyal companionship, and the kind of love that feels earned.

He isn’t a plug-and-play dog, and that’s okay. Not every great thing in life comes with instant setup. Bohdi deserves a home that sees his potential, appreciates his progress, and loves him for exactly who he is.

If you’ve got a little patience and a lot of heart, Bohdi might just be your perfect match.

If Anise were a person, she’d be the type to walk into a party, somehow know everyone within 15 minutes, and leave with three new best friends and an invitation to brunch.

She’s outgoing, social, a little quirky, and completely comfortable being herself. She’s the friend who sits upside down on the couch for no reason, tells stories with way too much enthusiasm, and somehow convinces everyone else to join in on whatever she’s doing.

Anise loves meeting new people, gets along with just about everyone, and is always ready for attention. Belly rubs? That’s basically her version of a spa day.

This sweet, slightly weird, incredibly lovable girl gets spayed on Wednesday and will be ready to head home on Thursday. After spending the last year charming everyone she meets, we think it’s time she found a family of her own to win over.

Tomorrow we open for the week, and we’d like to know which one of our pets has convinced you they’re moving into your house.

Who’s got your attention? The dog you’ve watched every video of? The cat you’ve zoomed in on 14 different photos of? The one you’ve shown your family while casually saying, “I’m not getting another pet” three times this week?

We’ve got dogs, cats, and a dozen more behind-the-scenes residents waiting for their turn in the spotlight. All of them are fairly certain they’re the best option.

So tell us, who are you coming to meet tomorrow? Bonus points if you tag the friend who’s definitely going to “just look” and somehow ends up filling out an adoption application.

Moose is the dog equivalent of a TV show everyone swears you need to watch.

You know the conversation. “Just get through the pilot episode.” Then suddenly you’re six seasons deep, emotionally attached to every character, and explaining the lore to strangers who never asked.

That’s Moose.

Transitions can be hard for him, so his pilot episode is mostly about getting his bearings and figuring out the plot. But stick around and you’ll quickly discover a dog who’s house trained, crate trained, great in the car, knows multiple tricks, walks like a pro on a leash, and treats every body of water like he’s been personally invited.

He’s dog friendly with a rough-and-rowdy play style. Moose isn’t looking for a co-star who politely discusses their feelings. He’s looking for the kind of canine friendship that involves wrestling, zoomies, and occasional dramatic chase scenes.

The thing about Moose is that once you’re a fan, you’re a fan. One day you’re meeting a dog. The next day you’re telling everyone, “Actually, the pilot was important character development.”

We have a small favor to ask for the humans of Sarge’s.

For the past few weeks, the AC system that cools our indoor dog kennels, kitchen, laundry area, medical office, and behavior office has been down while we wait on a backordered part. Before anyone worries, our animals are okay! The cats have working AC, and our dogs have fans, fresh water, plenty of shade, and a dedicated team making sure they stay comfortable.

That dedicated team, however, is feeling every bit of this summer heat.

Our staff are spending their days walking dogs, cleaning kennels, doing laundry, preparing meals, providing medical care, meeting adopters, and keeping tails wagging, all while working in much warmer conditions than they’d prefer. They’re taking it in stride because that’s what they do, but we’d love to surprise them with a little extra appreciation.

If you’d like to help keep our team fueled and smiling, we’d be grateful for drinks, snacks, popsicles, or other cool treats. You can send something through our wishlist or drop off goodies Tuesday through Saturday. (No need for bottled water. We’ve got plenty on hand!)

Thank you for helping us take care of the people who work so hard to take care of the pets.

Steve Buscemi found his home. His mom? She’s still here, still answering to “Steve Buscemi’s Mom.”

We think it’s time this sweet girl got a name of her own.

This friendly, social lady loves gentle pets, hanging out with her people, and showing off dramatic, big stretches that seem to happen every time someone walks by. She’s got plenty of love to give and is patiently waiting for a family to make her part of their story.

So tell us: what would you name her if she were yours?

Drop your suggestions below, then make plans to meet her when we reopen Tuesday. She’s ready to retire from being known as Steve Buscemi’s Mom and start living her best life with a name all her own.

These lovable weirdos somehow made it through last week without getting adopted. We checked their resumes, ran the numbers, and consulted our experts (the cats). The conclusion? We have absolutely no idea how they are still here.

But that’s okay, because a new week means a fresh batch of potential adopters, fresh opportunities, and another chance for these pets to convince someone they’re exactly what has been missing from their life.

While these stars are waiting for their big break, we’ve got 12 more pets behind the scenes preparing for their grand debut, plus more expected to join the Sarge’s crew this week.

Take a look through this week’s lineup and help us spread the word. Share their faces, tag your friends, and help us clear the stage before the next cast of characters is ready for their debut.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Tails of Tomorrow awareness event and capital campaign launch! We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our vision for the future of Sarge’s and the exciting progress already being made.

Tails of Tomorrow is about so much more than building renovations. These improvements will allow us to help more homeless pets find loving homes while also expanding our outreach programs to support owned pets in our community. Every step forward helps us better serve the animals and people who depend on us.

We’re excited to share that Phase One of our campaign is already complete with the purchase of the building we call home. Phase Two is now underway with play yard renovations in progress. The fencing has been completed, and next up is the installation of Astroturf to create safer, cleaner, and more enriching spaces for our dogs.

A special thank you to Faith Community Church for graciously donating their space for our event and for supporting our mission. And a special thank you to Bear Creek Supply for creating merchandise to help us fundraise and spread awareness. Community partnerships like these help make moments like this possible, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity.

None of this would be possible without supporters like you. Whether you attended the event, donated, volunteered, shared our campaign, or simply believe in our mission, you are helping build a brighter future for animals in need. Thank you for being part of Tails of Tomorrow and helping us create a rescue that’s ready to serve our community for years to come.

06/06/2026

This is more than a building renovation project.

Tails of Tomorrow is about creating the space, resources, and opportunities needed to help more pets in need and support our community when they need us most.

Take a few minutes to watch. The future of Sarge’s starts here. 🐾
