How to speak pig 🐷✍️ my 30 second guide to understanding what all the different oinks mean 😂

Pigs are so complex, they express emotions and communicate with one another in so many ways!

Today I wanted to share with you just a few of the different sounds they make and my personal interpretations of their meanings 😂

I hope you enjoy listening to all the different oinks! 🐷

Temperatures are soaring into the 80s this week which means the pigs are already waiting in line for their turn to use the piggy pond 🐖

The piggy pond is always popular, but on hot sunny days it is THE place to be 😂♥️

I captured this moment with sweet Teddy, he was so sleepy and relaxed! The cool mud must feel so nice ♥️🐖

Meet Mabel ♥️

Mabel’s story is incredible. The love she has for her babies is so beautiful 🥹

Today, Mabel and her three babies are all thriving. She is still very close with them, they spend all day together exploring the pasture. She’s especially close with Henry, the little baby she adopted! ♥️

Inspired by her story? Consider becoming her sponsor! There’s more info on our sponsorship program at the link in our bio ♥️

They were removed. The evidence is documented. Now Burke County needs to act. 🚨

We need everyone sharing this everywhere. 📣

Go to blueridgeliberation.org, scroll down until you see the Blue Ridge Liberation Action Alert, and send the email to the Burke County Board of Commissioners.

We made it incredibly easy.

The message is already written. The commissioners are already included. You can edit the message however you want before sending. It takes less than two minutes, and it matters.

This is democracy.

This is the public showing up, using their voice, and telling elected officials that animal neglect cannot be ignored.

The animals in this case were first removed on February 28. By March 1, all farm animals and dogs connected to the case had been removed.

Since then, we have not seen the meaningful movement this case demands.

The evidence of extreme malnutrition and extreme neglect is documented. The coalition is ready and willing to cooperate with any and all officials. More than $160,000 has already been spent on veterinary care and feed expenses alone because of this case.

Accountability cannot just disappear because it is inconvenient.

Burke County needs to do better. This cannot become the standard in Burke County.

Amy M. should never be allowed to have animals again.

There are so many negative myths and misconceptions about pigs- we hear them ALL the time.

I hope this post can provide a little insight into why these misconceptions aren’t true, and give you a glimpse into what pigs are really like!

It’s worth thinking about why these misconceptions exist.

Some of them come from the farming industry. Pigs at sanctuary aren’t aggressive, but confined in a tiny space on a factory farm where they are in intense stress 24/7 they might be.

Many of them are also perpetuated by a world that wants us to see farm animals like pigs as lesser. If we believe pigs are dirty, mean, emotionless, then we will feel more ok with them being abused and treated badly. It’s an intentional barrier to empathy.

Part of our sanctuary work is about breaking down these myths and giving people the opportunity to see all the wonderful things about pigs and other farm animals! To give the opportunity to form empathy and connection with these amazing animals ♥️
