The Healthy Opportunity Pilot (HOP) has changed lives 💙

HOP helps families access healthy food, housing, transportation, and other critical services that improve health while reducing healthcare costs.

https://www.ncdhhs.gov/about/department-initiatives/healthy-opportunities/healthy-opportunities-pilots

In just three years, HOP generated more than $384 million in total business activity, supported 2,923 jobs, and created nearly $125 million in wages for North Carolina workers. For every dollar invested in HOP, an additional $0.55 in economic activity was generated in pilot regions.

HOP is strengthening communities, supporting local farms and businesses, creating jobs, and helping more than 40,000 North Carolinians live healthier lives.

This is a call to action!

📞 Call your state legislators.https://impacthealth.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Legislative-Contacts-HOP-Advocacy.pdf

📧 Send an email.

🗣️ Tell them to continue investing in the Healthy Opportunities Pilot and the organizations that make this work possible.

HOP works. It improves health, lowers costs, supports local economies, and helps our neighbors thrive.

Every child deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday.

Through our Resource Center, HCM is proud to offer Birthday Smiles, a program that provides free birthday gifts for children in Haywood County. A birthday may only come once a year, but the joy of feeling seen, valued, and celebrated can last much longer.

Made possible through our partnership with this program helps families create special birthday memories while easing the financial burden.

If you or someone you know could benefit from Birthday Smiles, call or text 828-962-6422 to learn more.

Fresh from the garden to our neighbors!

Thanks to the generosity of we have 250 tomato plants available for our pantry guests. These plants will be available today and Friday, while supplies last.

Growing your own food is a powerful step toward reducing food insecurity. A single tomato plant can provide fresh produce throughout the season, helping families stretch their food budgets while enjoying healthy, homegrown food.

We're grateful for community partners who help make fresh, local food more accessible for our neighbors. ❤️🌱
