Community care is what makes healing possible!

We’re deeply grateful to Appalachian Herb Collective and Jeannie Dunn at Red Moon Herbs for their generous hearts and for showing up for our communities in such a meaningful way.

Their care and support help create spaces where people feel seen, held, and connected. This kind of impact ripples far beyond what we can measure.

🎉 We’re Growing — and You’re Invited!

☀️ Sunrise Community for Recovery & Wellness is excited to announce the Grand Opening of our Jackson County Recovery Community Center (RCC)! This marks our third RCC, and we can’t wait to welcome the Sylva community into a space built on connection, hope, and recovery.

📅 Wednesday, March 11, 2026
⏰ 11:00AM – 2:00PM
📍 582 W Main St, Sylva, NC 28779
(Located above Blue Ridge Bootleg Coffee Roastery)

Community Drop-In Hours
Community Care Kits

Join us for a low-pressure, drop-in space centered on ease, belonging, and being together. Come as you are. Stay for a few minutes or the whole afternoon.

For February, we’ll also be making and sharing Community Care Kits with cold and flu care items and herbal support, made possible with support from MedAssist and the Appalachian Herb Collective. You’re welcome to help assemble kits, take one home, or simply stop by and take what you need.

Light snacks and drinks will be available, along with games and craft supplies.

You’re invited to a free community dinner in Haywood County—created especially for those who have experienced grief or who care (or have cared) for a loved one. 💛

On Tuesday, January 27, we’ll gather at Wells Events & Reception Center for a shared meal and meaningful conversation. You’ll hear brief introductions from our 2026 Heartfelt Haywood team leaders, then have time to talk around tables about what matters most to you and the goals you hope our community can work toward together.

This is not a lecture or a support group—just a chance to sit with others who understand, share a meal, and help shape what comes next.

🕠 5:30 PM
📍 33 Wells Events Way, Waynesville
🍽️ Dinner provided (space limited)

If you’ve ever grieved, cared for someone, or supported a loved one through illness or loss, you belong here. We’d love to have you.

👉 Please RSVP by January 20 https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/L1p_HlaIN3Z7lCxhioWnUw

"We gather as old and new friends, as kindred who care about all of our siblings.

We celebrate this amazing space, lovingly built as a welcoming and inclusive space of community!

We also celebrate joint efforts to make resources available with fewer barriers, here in a Purple Pantry.

We dedicate this Purple Pantry to this space and community to help protect life, lessen suffering, and support healing, in hope that lives will be saved and restored.

Testing strips are provided in hopes of fewer overdoses.

Naloxone is here in hopes that breathing will be enabled in the event of an overdose.

Materials for multiple paths of recovery are here to support journeys of courage for any positive change a person seeks for themself.

Grief materials are here to help access pathways of healing and hope for folx who mourn loved ones whose lives were ended as a result of overdose or other substance-related cause.

A Purple mailbox is here to receive the Love that remains for those lost siblings. We will hold their names and stories with honor.

May this Purple Pantry be part of community that carries burden together and Loves openly."

Purple Pantries offer free:
• resources for overdose prevention (fentanyl and xylazine test strips) and opioid overdose reversal medication (naloxone - brand names such as Narcan and RiVive)
• resources for multiple paths to recovery
• grief resources and remembrance mailbox (checked regularly).

Today is National Philanthropy Day: a celebration of generosity, compassion, and community care.

It’s about showing up for each other with time, empathy, listening, and shared humanity.

Whether you volunteer at a Connection Practice, join a training, or simply hold space for someone, you are part of this healing movement.

Together, we’re building a world where connection is freely given and universally available.
