Honoring service, celebrating community, and amplifying veteran voices! Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) was proud to partner with the American Music Awards this Memorial Day.

This meaningful collaboration highlighted the power of music to bring people together while recognizing the service and sacrifice of veterans, service members, and military families. Events like these help elevate the stories of the veteran community and remind us of the importance of continued connection, advocacy, and support beyond Memorial Day.

We were especially honored to see Darius Rucker receive the Veterans Voice Award presented by USAA’s Honor Through Action, recognizing his longstanding commitment to supporting veterans, service members, and military families.

As we continue to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, IAVA remains committed to building community, uplifting veteran voices, and creating spaces where veterans feel seen, heard, and supported.

Thank you to the AMAs for including IAVA in such a meaningful evening dedicated to connection, remembrance, and service, and thank you to Gerry Byrne, Major General (Ret) Robert Whittle, and Jenna Saucedo-Herrera for welcoming us and honoring veterans of our generation.

This Memorial Day, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) went silent to honor the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Through our campaign, we paused to reflect, remember, and pay tribute to those who never made it home.

We were also honored to attend the National Memorial Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and legacy carried by generations of service members.

Although Memorial Day has passed, our gratitude and remembrance do not end there. We honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice today and every day, and we stand with the families, friends, and communities who carry their memory forward.

Congressional procedure can seem complicated, but many of the rules exist to promote transparency and accountability.

Legislative ripening is one example. Before certain bills, amendments, or reports can move forward, Congress often requires time for review and public availability. These procedural steps may happen behind the scenes, but they can significantly influence how, and when, legislation advances.

This Memorial Day, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) joins Americans across the country in honoring the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

Today, we pause to remember those who never made it home — the brothers, sisters, friends, and teammates whose courage and commitment will never be forgotten.

As part of our campaign, we ask our community to pause today for a moment of silence in honor of the fallen. Take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember them today and every day.

R.E.D. Friday - Remember Everyone Deployed

On Friday, we wear red to honor the service members currently deployed around the world and to remind them that they are never forgotten.

It's a simple act that carries a powerful message of support, gratitude, and solidarity for those serving away from home.

Whether you're a veteran, military family member, caregiver, supporter, or ally, join us in wearing red and showing that we stand behind those who continue to serve.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is proud to support the bipartisan Fostering TRUST Act of 2026, introduced by Representatives Dave Min and Brian Fitzpatrick. This legislation would strengthen transparency and accountability when a veteran dies by su***de or attempts su***de at a VA facility or within the VA Community Care network, ensuring Congress has the information needed to conduct oversight, identify gaps in care, and better support veterans and their families.

“Every veteran su***de is a tragedy, but every additional insight we gain can help us prevent future loss of life," said Dr. Kyleanne Hunter, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). "The TRUST Act of 2026 would increase transparency & accountability between the VA and Congress, including when veterans are seen via community care - ultimately improving actionable efforts to reduce veteran su***de."
