The Passing of Yvonne Lowery Kennedy:

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Yvonne Lowery Kennedy, Member of the national Board of Directors, as well as, Chair of the Birmingham Metro Chapter of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc.

Ms. Lowery Kennedy is the daughter of civil rights leader and SCLC President Emeritus, the late Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery and Dr. Evelyn Gibson Lowery, founder of SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., Inc.

Ms Kennedy died on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at UBA Hospital, Birmingham, Funeral services are Scheduled for Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at The Worship Center, located at 100 Derby Parkway, Birmingham, AL 35210.

Like her father and mother Yvonne Lowery Kennedy continued their legacy of activism by her involvement in numerous civil rights affiliations. She succeeded her mother as Chair of the board of SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., Inc.
