When grandparents, relatives and close family friends step up to raise children, they shouldn't have to do it alone. According to a new report from USAging and the Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network (Generations United) many Area Agencies on Aging are delivering key supports for kinship families, including respite services, caregiver education, counseling and help accessing resources.

Ninety-five percent of Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) support older kin caregivers. Yet many still face challenges such as limited funding, staffing shortages and difficulty connecting with the families who need help most.

A new report from USAging and the Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network (Generations United) highlights how AAAs are providing vital services like information and referral, respite care, support groups, training, legal assistance and more to help kinship families thrive.
