PREP SQUAD

PREP SQUAD PrEP SQUAD PrEP SQUAD is an all volunteer educational campaign dedicated to promoting s*xual wellness among men who love and have s*x with men.

The primary goal of the PrEP SQUAD project is to educate men who love and have s*x with men about the best ways to stop the spread of HIV and other s*xually transmitted infections in our community. The use of the daily PrEP pill combined with proper condom use is the most effective way to prevent yourself from becoming infected with the HIV virus. The use of a properly fitting latex or polyurethan

e condom along with plenty of silicone or water based l**e is the only way to prevent infection with common s*xually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia during s*xual activity. Vaccines for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and HPV are available to prevent against these common STDs and are recommended for all men who have s*x with men (HPV, men 26 and under). A mutually monogamous s*xual relationship, where both partners have been tested for all STDs and neither partner has any type of s*xual relations (oral or a**l) outside the primary relationship, is the safest situation to be in with respect to becoming infected with a new STD. Sexual abstinence is the only way to be 100% sure you won't ever get an STD. Other goals of the PrEP SQUAD project include encouraging our community's adoption of safer s*x strategies, including use of daily PrEP pills, as well as connecting men who have s*x with men to the health care providers that are familiar with their unique s*xual health needs.

It's National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Although there are some significant barriers to access, we DO have the tools available to end the HIV epidemic in America. TasP stands for "Treatment as Prevention" and that means once someone is treated for HIV by taking their daily HIV medication as prescribed, they can get their viral load to "undetectable" levels. When HIV is at undetectable levels in an individual's body, there is not enough virus in their body to transmit HIV to their s*xual partner(s). Thus TREATMENT of HIV, PREVENTS HIV transmission (TasP) and Undetectable EQUALS Untransmissible Even more important to the person living with HIV, is that getting treated for HIV means that they will keep their immune system strong and remain healthy. You can find HIV testing/treatment near you at LOCATOR.HIV.GOV )
