We’ve welcomed UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland as our 8th hospital partner!!! 🎉

Maritsa, one of the Child Life Specialists, said, “For children facing an oncology diagnosis, child life support can begin at the first point of contact and continue throughout treatment. We help children understand their medical experiences, build coping skills, and adjust to the hospital environment. Using developmentally appropriate, play-based approaches, they provide preparation and education for tests and procedures, offer distraction and emotional support during procedures, and guide parents and siblings in understanding and coping with a new diagnosis.”

Thank you, Maritsa, and the entire team at UCSF Benioff, for introducing Letters to Isabel to your patients and their families!

We are thrilled to welcome our 7th hospital partner- Studer Family Children’s Hospital! ⭐️

Meet one of the amazing Child Life Specialists from , Pressley!!!

“In my role, I have the privilege of supporting patients and families through all aspects of their hospital experience. My day includes meeting new patients, providing procedural preparation, facilitating therapeutic and developmental play, and helping to create a sense of normalcy within the hospital environment. We are so excited to partner with Letters to Isabel! This partnership means so much to our team because it allows our patients and families to experience meaningful connections, encouragement, and understanding from others who share similar experiences. Seeing the joy and comfort that comes from knowing they’re not alone in their journey is incredibly powerful. Collaborations like this remind us how impactful community can be, and we are so grateful to be part of something that brings light and hope to our patients and families.”

Blood donations truly make all the difference! Here’s Steven’s experience as a parent:

“When our daughter, Isabel, fought Burkitt lymphoma, every chemo round wiped out her ability to make blood. We saw transfusions as her lifeline. Each bag of donated blood meant she could fight the next day — it wasn’t just blood, it was the fuel for her survival when her own body couldn’t keep up. It saved my little girl.”

Stories like Steven’s reflect what so many pediatric cancer families face during treatment. This holiday season, consider donating blood to help save a child’s life! Visit a regional blood center or your local pediatric hospital to give today! ♥️

Donating blood can save a life! But do you know why?

Both cancer and its treatments can damage the body’s ability to make healthy blood cells. Low red blood cells cause extreme fatigue, low platelets increase the risk of bleeding, and low white cells make infections dangerous.

Blood donors help kids with cancer stay strong enough for surgery, prevent dangerous bleeding, restore energy, and keep fighting! If you’re looking for a practical way to give back this holiday season, donating blood is a powerful place to start!

Search for regional blood centers or pediatric hospitals near you to schedule your donation!
