This Mother’s Day, we asked our team to call their moms to share a little love – and we captured the reactions that remind us why connectivity matters.

Broadband isn’t just about infrastructure. It’s these moments that keep us close, no matter the distance.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother figures who support us and keep us connected in every way that matters.

Taking more than two years to get a permit to build broadband?? That’s not progress – that’s a problem.

Red tape is causing too many rural Americans to go without fast, reliable broadband internet. No permit = no service.

Broadband providers are ready to build. Communities are ready to grow. More connectivity means more jobs, more opportunity, more competitiveness.

Big thanks to our members for sharing their horror stories:

Over the past two days in Washington, D.C., USTelecom’s Leadership Committee and Board meetings brought together broadband leaders from across the country to focus on expanding opportunity and strengthening America’s connectivity future.

We were honored to hear from Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Anna M. Gomez, Energy & Commerce Committee Republicans Chairman Congressman Brett Guthrie, and White House Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Alex Meyer.

Their insights underscored the importance of smart permitting reform, advancing modern services in a post-copper world, and strengthening cyber resilience across our networks.

A clear theme emerged: broadband is the backbone of AI infrastructure—and ensuring its continued growth and resilience is essential to America’s innovation and competitiveness.

This gathering of connectors and community leaders was a powerful reminder of our shared mission: delivering fast, reliable, and resilient connectivity to every American.

A huge thank you to our members for joining us over the past few days to bring their impactful work to DC.

The future of connectivity is being decided right now – and our member providers are leading the work to shape it.

At today’s American Connectivity Forum, our executive panel – made up of broadband leaders whose companies collectively connect more than 2 million people across over 30 states – focused on what matters most: advancing broadband access and navigating the always-evolving policy landscape.

These are the people working behind the scenes to push connectivity forward for families, businesses, schools, and hospitals so that every aspect of your community has the broadband access it needs to thrive.

Turning dirt to build internet infrastructure shouldn’t be this hard.

That was the focus of a fireside chat with Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr where he spoke about the FCC’s work on regulations for permitting reform, among other topics. The FCC is focused on reviews that will ease gratuitous regulations.

“We’re going to make a lot of progress there,” Carr said. “We’re moving across the board from environmental and historic rules … and just general permit reform and we’re going to work hard to get this thing turned around.”

Thank you to Chairman Carr for stopping by our American Connectivity Forum to chat and share his commitment to supporting broadband providers – and connecting more Americans.
