May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month. đź©·
Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy condition related to high blood pressure that can affect both mom and baby, especially after 20 weeks of pregnancy or postpartum
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), some of the top warning sign for preeclampsia are:
- Persistent headaches
- Changes in vision (blurred vision, seeing spots)
- Swelling in the face or hands
- Upper abdominal pain
- Sudden weight gain
- Shortness of breath
If something doesn’t feel right, trust your body, speak up, and reach out to your provider. Your voice matters.
