Across the country, We The Action volunteer lawyers are working on the most pressing issues to expand access to justice and deliver free legal services where they are critically needed.

Since 2017, We The Action has connected lawyers who want to do good with nonprofits and causes looking for support navigating legal challenges both big and small. By partnering with nonprofits of all sizes, and working on a variety of issues, there are We The Action projects available for any license, experience level, and location.

For decades, Americans have grown disconnected from our institutions and from one another. Election workers help turn that around. Anna Chu has built a career on putting the law to work for the people who need it most ⚖️

As Executive Director of We The Action, Anna helped steer more than $100 million in donated legal services to nonprofits defending immigrant communities, safeguarding civil society, and advancing racial justice and gender equity.

As our democracy faces new tests, Anna and our We The Action team launched the Democracy Legal Defense Network, giving lawyers, law students, and legal staff a way to show up for the voters and protect fundamental rights and fair elections.

This year NAPABA - National Asian Pacific American Bar Association recognized Anna’s work with its 2026 Pro Bono Service Award, a testament to her leadership and to what’s possible when lawyers show up. 🎉

Nearly two decades fighting to end sexual violence on college campuses — Tracey Vitchers is just getting started. 👏

Tracey’s advocacy began as an undergrad at Williams College, where she led a campaign to overhaul the school’s sexual violence policies. This work eventually carried her into national leadership with SAFER and, in 2017, into the role of Executive Director of It's On Us. Today, she leads a team working to make consent, health relationships, and bystander intervention part of every student’s college experience.

This year, our It’s On Us team has has published new research on the sex-ed gaps facing incoming students, expanded prevention programming to more college athletic programs, grown its campus network, and welcomed a new class of student leaders to its National Leadership Council.

As IOU celebrates its 12-year anniversary, this momentum is a testament to Tracey’s leadership and the team she’s built. 🎉

We The Action is helping ACLU of Wisconsin get more lawyers on the ground before November 3. ⚖️

This partnership is filling a real gap, as most of Wisconsin's lawyers are concentrated in Milwaukee and Madison, leaving communities in the western part of the state, especially near the Minnesota border, stretched thin.

As threats to voting rights keep multiplying, stories like this point to something bigger, making it clear that democracy holds up when enough people decide to show up for it. That belief is what helped build We The Action’s growing network of pro bono lawyers, and it’s why partnerships like this one matter well beyond a single election.
