Five years ago, the Pact-led Community Action for HIV Control project began working to strengthen Ukraine’s response by expanding access to prevention, testing, and support services. Today, we are pleased to look back on this journey and share our .

We brought together international partners, Ukraine's government, and local civil society organizations. In coordination, these partners built a nationwide response focused on adapting programming to make services truly accessible, even amid an ongoing war and other complex challenges. Thank you to the many partners who made this durable impact possible. 🇺🇦

Imagine that you’re a business owner responsible for fulfilling sales and making payroll for employees who depend on their income – but you have to do it with unreliable electricity amid constant blackouts.

This is what companies in face every day, and it’s why Pact is using energy to change the game for businesses. ☀️ 💡

Our Smart Power Myanmar program has helped more than 200 businesses — sugarcane producers, furniture makers, avocado oil factories, and more — switch to cheaper, more reliable solar power. SPM supports businesses through every step in the process to install and make productive use of solar, helping them to thrive.

We work with stakeholders at all levels, including banks, solar companies, small and medium-size businesses, and development organizations. SPM’s financial guarantees enable bank lending for solar investments, and SPM is the only local issuer of International Renewable Energy Certificates, or I-REC(E)s, which represent verified renewable electricity generation. These globally recognized certificates allow renewable energy producers to make clean energy claims and monetize their solar systems, encouraging further investment in renewable energy.

With Pact’s support, businesses are overcoming the obstacle of expensive, unreliable power. We’re helping to put the tools that local communities need into their own hands so they can lead their and prosper.

For services to work, they must be more than simply available. They must be truly accessible to those who need them most. This is especially true during war.

In , the Pact-led Community Action for HIV Control project focused on building services around people's lives. From self-testing and online appointments to peer counselors and deeply committed social workers, the tools our partners deployed made all the difference. The project also focused on close collaboration among civil society organizations and Ukraine's government, acting as a convener and a builder of local capacity.

All of this made it possible to identify new HIV cases, get people on treatment, and keep them healthy, even amid conflict. In the regions of Ukraine where we worked, the CAHC project accounted for about 1 in 5 new HIV case detections.

As we close out this five-year effort, we're extremely proud of the progress that Ukraine has made in its HIV response, and we can see ahead to a day when together we can . 💙 💛
