How do Indonesians view the rapidly changing regional and global landscape? How do those perspectives compare with those across Southeast Asia?
Join USINDO on Thursday, May 21st for an Open Forum, “Indonesia and the State of Southeast Asia,” exploring how political, social, and economic developments are shaping Indonesian public opinion and perceptions of regional and global affairs.
As Indonesia navigates an increasingly dynamic geopolitical environment, public attitudes toward neighboring countries, major global powers, and domestic priorities continue to evolve. This forum will examine how Indonesians perceive the greatest opportunities and challenges facing their country, including attitudes toward the United States, China, and ASEAN, as well as how these views have shifted over time.
The forum will feature Melinda Martinus, Fellow and Acting Co-coordinator of the ASEAN Studies Centre at the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute; Julia Lau, Principal Fellow and Coordinator of the Indonesia Studies Programme at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute; and Dr. Siwage Dharma Negara, Principal Fellow, Co-coordinator of the Indonesia Studies Programme, and Coordinator of the Singapore APEC Studies Centre at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute. The conversation will be moderated by Ambassador David Merrill, President of USINDO.
Be part of the conversation as experts explore how Indonesians are responding to a changing regional landscape and what these evolving attitudes may mean for Indonesia and Southeast Asia moving forward.
Date and time: Thursday, May 21 at 8:30 a.m. EDT / 7:30 p.m. WIB.
Location: Online via Zoom
