A huge shoutout to Ben Franklin Middle School for raising an incredible $1,604 to support NAMI Bucks County's youth mental health education programs through their annual Mental Health Walk! 💚

Each year, Ben Franklin hosts this event to help ensure our programs remain free for those who need them most while raising awareness amongst their students that mental health matters. Displayed around the track were motivational posters created by students, sharing messages of hope and reminding their peers that they are never alone.

A special thank you to Ms. Schwartz and her team for organizing this year's event, and thank you to Bristol Township School District for your ongoing commitment to mental health awareness and ending stigma!

Join us tonight for our free, in-person peer recovery support group from 7-8:30 PM at Yardley Friends Meeting, 65 N. Main Street, Yardley, PA, 19067. All are welcome!

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders who’ve been there.

NAMI’s support groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure you and others in the group have an opportunity to be heard and to get what you need.

By sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting, you can gain hope and feel a sense of connection. The group encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community. You’ll benefit from other’s experiences, discover your inner strength and empower yourself by sharing your own experiences in a non-judgmental space.

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group will help you:

⦿ Aim for better coping skills
⦿ Find strength in sharing experiences
⦿ Not judge anyone’s pain
⦿ Forgive ourselves and reject guilt
⦿ Embrace humor as healthy
⦿ Accept that we cannot solve every problem
⦿ Understand that mental health conditions are no one’s fault and can be traumatic experiences

For someone navigating a mental health crisis, the energy required to fight through bureaucratic hurdles is energy they simply do not have. Every administrative hoop is a barrier to the therapy, medication, and support services that keep our community members healthy and safe.

To our community members currently struggling: You are not alone. If you are experiencing issues with your Medicaid coverage, there are organizations dedicated to helping you fight for your rights. We encourage you to reach out to the Pennsylvania Health Law Project (PHLP) at 1-800-274-3258 or the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (PHAN) at 877-570-3642.
We will continue to advocate for a system that treats people like people. Let’s work together to ensure that no one in Bucks County is left without the care they deserve.
