Today we're featuring the speakers that will be presenting the HFMA Massachusetts-Rhode Island Chapter's "Compliance Hot Topic Webinar: Fraud, Waste & Abuse" on September 24th. First up we have Jonathan Porter, Partner at Husch Blackwell, and a former federal prosecutor. Jonathan uses his years of experience to guide clients through the challenges associated with government investigations and regulatory compliance. The bulk of Jonathan's work with the Justice Department was in the area of health care fraud, including investigating False Claims Act allegations of health care providers, and now Jonathan advises health care providers on how to maintain compliance and defend against government investigations. Jonathan also teaches white-collar crime as an adjunct law professor at Mercer University School of Law.
Also on the panel will be Danielle Tangorre, a Partner at Robinson+Cole with extensive experience counseling clinical laboratories, health care providers, behavioral health providers, hospitals, and other healthcare entities to navigate operational and compliance issues and assist with business transactions. Danielle advises clients on operational and compliance issues, federal and state fraud and abuse laws, including the Stark law, Anti-Kickback Statute and the Eliminating Kickbacks in Recovery Act (as well as state law counterparts), HIPAA, corporate practice of medicine, reimbursement and billing compliance, and other regulatory matters.
Jane Yoon, a partner in the Litigation practice of Paul Hastings, will also be presenting. Ms. Yoon represents corporate entities and their executives in connection with government and internal investigations into allegations of potential violations of the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, health care fraud, the Food Drug & Cosmetic Act, and the False Claims Act. Prior to joining Paul Hastings, Ms. Yoon was a federal prosecutor for approximately seven years in the Health Care & Government Fraud Unit in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, where she routinely partnered with HHS-OIG, FDAOCI, FBI, IRS, and other federal agencies in the investigation and prosecution of health care fraud, government fraud and complex tax matters.
