Boston Celtics champion and “Survivor” TV contestant Scot Pollard received the gift of life with a heart transplant in 2024. On Monday, Scot shared his story at Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale School of Medicine. He also shares on his social media about the importance of registering as a donor during his Transplant Tuesday Tidbits series. “Somebody I didn’t know helped me. Don Callen participates in NEDS Annual Golf Outing in honor of his donor.

“I had a double-lung transplant at MGH nine years ago! I can’t wait to play in this year’s golf outing at Juniper Hills. Golf has always played a big role in my entire life. Growing up in Watertown next to Oakley Country Club, I was swinging a golf club as soon as I could walk. I started caddying at age 10 and eventually worked on the grounds staff. I became an Ouimet scholar throughout my 4 years at Boston College.”

“My life got interrupted by a lung disease when I was 62, and I was fortunate to live near MGH and very blessed to have NEDS enter my life. I had a successful double lung transplant at MGH, and my donor was a beautiful, young 31-year-old woman, whose choice saved six lives! My family and I pray for her each and every day. If you see me at the course, please stop and say hello. Blessings to all.”

Kalina made the quilt in honor of the five-year anniversary of her dad’s passing, who was able to give the gift of life through donation after his passing.
