We wrapped up the 2026 conference with a lovely regional breakfast where folks got to connect from others in a similar geographical area. The silent auction also completed with earnings of over $7000 given to the Journal of Sandplay Therapy.

Audrey Punnet gave our final plenary talk followed by a meaningful discussion with our Elders Panel. We loved ending with the wisdom that comes from experience.

Other pictures here include our regional Temenos table, with natural items from different regions, and our rock star silent auction team who worked late Saturday night to have all the items sorted for Sunday pick up.

Also big thank you to Juanita McCabe, our conference committee chair, and Jacquelyn Kelley, our president for their support and work on behalf of this conference.

Saturday started with Kim Coalo’s plenary with experiential art integrated into the talk. We also enjoyed sessions throughout the day which included our Research Roundtable. It was fun seeing folks on the golf carts between sessions.

Every day we had the opportunity to give away a dragon eye, courtesy of “Folks in the Sand”. We ended the night with our awards ceremony and played dinner with live jazz music provided by Dave Flippio. Friends and mentors enjoyed connecting throughout the day.

We especially loved the Temenos table with the beautiful lakeside view and the Native American quilt raffled at the conclusion of the silent auction.

We loved connecting with folks last week at our 2026 National Conference!

Despite the rain and travel delays, it was great to see friends new and old! Our pre-conference sessions filled Thursday daytime. We enjoyed harp music with our drinks at the opening reception. Dyane Sherwood presented our keynote address that evening.

Friday started with Betty Jackson and continued to be filled with beautiful sessions from our knowledgeable community. In the afternoon, we held our Members’ Meeting, complete with our Sand Witch with Ellen LeBel.

Many thanks to the Temenos Committee for holding such beautiful space for us throughout the whole Conference (see the last photo).

The balance between group unity and individual expression can sometimes be tricky to navigate. What have you seen help support the tension of these opposites?

We are always excited to welcome our conference vendors. 🙂 They add so much fun and interest, as well as how they help therapists prepare for their work in very practical ways.

Check out who we have coming this year:

We are excited to join Dyane Sherwood, our keynote speaker, at the beautiful Loyola campus in just a couple weeks. It really is so beautiful!

DR. DYANE SHERWOOD, PHD, CST-T, will be speaking on Thursday evening at the opening of the conference. Her presentation titled, "THE SELF AT THE CROSSROADS: MICROCOSM AND MACROCOSM," will address how healing and connection can be activated through various biological, psychological, and cultural ideas. Check out the full description below!

DYANE N. SHERWOOD, PHD, CST-T has included Sandplay in her practice since completing her own process in 1989. A child and adult analyst and teaching member of STA and ISST, she consults about work with both adults and children. She is also the Founder of Analytical Psychology Press which has republished Dora Kalff’s Sandplay, in addition to more recent books by members of our sandplay community. She has a private practice in Evanston, IL and online. She also teaches at the Chicago Institute in the 2-year Postgraduate Program and in the Analytic Training program as well as internationally at other Jung Institutes, both in person and online.

THE SELF AT THE CROSSROADS: MICROCOSM AND MACROCOSM
With curiosity and respect for the true nature and potential of the other person,
we come together to evoke the healing and enlivening role of human beings truly
relating to one another—. When this is present, as C.G. Jung and Dora Kalff have
shown us, there is the potential for the activation of the orienting, transformative,
and integrative potentials of the Self. We will reflect on the diversity of biological,
psychological, and cultural studies that now inform our work as sandplay
therapists, including the synergy of movement and imagination, of image-making.
Finally, we will call upon the work of Hildegard von Bingen to remind us of the deep
connection between the inner world and the world of nature—the microcosm and
the macrocosm.

As we honor those who have sacrificed for us, may we remember that it is because of them we are able to build a bright and bold future. Happy Memorial Day Weekend! 🇺🇸
