THE SELF AT THE CROSSROADS: MICROCOSM AND MACROCOSM
With curiosity and respect for the true nature and potential of the other person,
we come together to evoke the healing and enlivening role of human beings truly
relating to one another—. When this is present, as C.G. Jung and Dora Kalff have
shown us, there is the potential for the activation of the orienting, transformative,
and integrative potentials of the Self. We will reflect on the diversity of biological,
psychological, and cultural studies that now inform our work as sandplay
therapists, including the synergy of movement and imagination, of image-making.
Finally, we will call upon the work of Hildegard von Bingen to remind us of the deep
connection between the inner world and the world of nature—the microcosm and
the macrocosm.
