On Thursday, Oct. 1, the European Association for Transactional Analysis (EATA) and the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) will host a virtual event examining the intersection of culture, power, and mental health practice.

As outlined in a new brief by The Script Newsroom, the session will be led by Victoria Baskerville, a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA) and founder of the Transactional Analysis (TA) East London Institute. Her presentation, titled "A decolonising journey from the radical roots of TA to intersectional TA," will guide clinicians through deconstructing psychological theory and addressing structural inequalities long embedded in the field.

The primary objective of the webinar is to prompt attendees to interrogate their own roles within broader systems of oppression and evaluate how personal biases shape therapeutic work.

"I am amazed by the promising talent and potential leadership in our community." Elaborating on this sentiment, a new article by Marina Rajan Joseph details the successful conclusion of the second online Training Endorsement Workshop (TEW) of 2026, hosted by the International Board of Certification (IBOC). Held July 24-26, the event gathered 16 participants and two translators to advance their global practice of Transactional Analysis (TA).

According to Joseph, the meticulous planning and commitment from the staff helped the group seamlessly navigate wide-ranging time zones and language barriers. The workshop featured diverse faculty and participants from Hungary, Russia, India, Ukraine, Guatemala, the United States of America (USA), Croatia, Spain and the United Kingdom (UK).

“The International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) is delighted to announce that Joel Vos has been awarded the 2026 ITAA Research Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to transactional analysis (TA) research and its application in practice.” In a new article covering this professional milestone, author Moniek Thunnissen highlights how Vos has spent the past five years rigorously strengthening the scientific foundation of this mental health specialty.

According to Thunnissen, a significant portion of this recognition stems from Vos's extensive collaboration with Biljana van Rijn, which culminated in the 2025 publication of “The Handbook of Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy: An Evidence-Based Approach.” Their landmark work establishes a stronger empirical basis for core concepts like ego states and existential positions, providing practitioners with a standardized treatment framework and a common language across different schools of TA.

The piece introduces an emerging framework designed to shift the professional focus toward understanding a client's neurodevelopmental capacity rather than solely searching for underlying psychological script issues.

Outlining the concept of Neuro-informed Transactional Analysis (NiTA), Clark argues that behaviors frequently interpreted as psychological resistance may actually be the result of a depleted nervous system. The author states that by embracing three core principles — curiosity, context and coping — professionals can better support neurodivergent individuals without misinterpreting sensory overload or executive functioning struggles as defensive reactions.
