As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a month filled with stories, awareness, community partnerships, and reminders to survivors that they are not alone.

Throughout October, we’ve had the opportunity to share the work of DVRC, introduce you to our team, highlight the incredible support of our community, and come together to raise awareness about domestic violence.

To everyone who wore purple, shared a post, attended an event, donated, volunteered, supported DVRC, or simply took the time to learn more, thank you. Your support matters.
But while October comes to an end, our work continues every day.

Path to Justice: Supporting Survivors Through the Court Process What if your business could help a survivor feel supported, informed, and empowered while navigating the legal system? 💜

Through DVRC’s Adopt-a-Room program, local businesses and organizations can adopt “Path to Justice,” our Court Advocacy Office, and help create a private, supportive space where survivors can meet with advocates, prepare for court, and navigate the legal process.

For many survivors, the court process can feel overwhelming and intimidating. This space provides an opportunity to ask questions, understand their options, prepare for what comes next, and know they do not have to face the process alone.

Your support can provide more than a room. It can provide reassurance during uncertainty, confidence during a difficult process, and a place where survivors can feel heard, supported, and empowered.

At DVRC, our Individual and Family Therapy services provide trauma-informed, evidence-based support for survivors of domestic violence and their families.

Therapy offers a safe and supportive space to process the effects of trauma, build on individual strengths, strengthen emotional well-being, and develop tools for healing and resilience.

Every person’s experience is different. Our approach is centered on each client’s needs, strengths, and goals, with a focus on healing and reclaiming autonomy.

🍩 Donut let love hurt! 💜

We were back at URI today, this time joining the wonderful ladies of (AXO), who hosted a third-party fundraiser selling delicious donuts from and spreading awareness about domestic violence in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)!

A huge thank you to AXO for putting their hearts into this important cause and helping spread the message that love should never hurt. We are so grateful for your support and for helping us build a community rooted in safety, respect, and healthy relationships. 💜

Domestic violence affects the whole family. In Rhode Island, children were present in 24% of domestic violence incidents resulting in an arrest in 2024.

That means children were present in 1,321 reported incidents.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story that deserves to be heard.

A heartfelt thank you to Christine from for the time, dedication, and hard work she has put into continuing the Gems and Jewelry fundraiser! 💜
Christine took over this third-party fundraising event from Mickey Ranalli, and thanks to the continued success of this initiative, thousands of dollars have been raised to support the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County.
We are incredibly grateful to Christine for her commitment and to the URI students who helped make yesterday’s event a success, as well as everyone who stopped by and purchased jewelry. Your generosity and support make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.
