Play It Forward 2026 is just two days away on May 8th. Thanks to our wonderful supporters, tickets are sold out and many generous donations have been received! The Foundation is extremely grateful and we are looking forward to honoring Matthew’s legacy with our amazing musicians, friends, and family on Friday. The event honors Matthew’s legacy and passion for music by bringing family and friends together with local musicians to raise funds for college scholarships.

In June 2025, the Matthew Sheehan Memorial Foundation had the honor of awarding three college scholarships in Matthew’s memory. Recipients were chosen from a field of applicants who demonstrate academic achievement and exemplify how small acts of humility, kindness, and patience can make a big impact on those around us.

Congratulations to Jackson Hopkins and Sean McGregor from South Kingstown High School, and Hannah Paolino from The Prout School. These outstanding students were selected for a 2025 Matthew Sheehan Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.

The Foundation is proud of this year’s recipients and we know they will carry on Matthew’s legacy by compassionately serving others in their future.

Due to the success of our annual fundraiser, Play It Forward, and the generosity of our supporters, the Matthew Sheehan Memorial Foundation will award three college scholarships this year!

All of the students who applied are truly outstanding and we were touched by their essays describing how they demonstrate Matthew's qualities of humility, kindness, and patience. The 2025 Matthew Sheehan Memorial Scholarship recipients have been selected and will be announced at their school's awards night in June.
