The Prout School

The Prout School is a Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school located in Wakefield, Rhode Island.

Situated on a beautiful 25 acre campus, Prout educates 425 students in grades 9-12. Prout offers one of Rhode Island's only International Baccalaureate Program for high school students.

Shout out to the Prout Boys Tennis team - the 2026 Division II State Championship!

From runner-up to state champion—what a season! The No. 1-seeded Crusaders defeated North Smithfield, 4-1, to capture the title and finish what they started. One year after falling short in the state finals, Prout brought the championship trophy home.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, and everyone who was part of the Crusaders championship season!
Next year, the Crusaders will move to Division I and compete at the state’s highest level.

The Prout School is proud to be one of just two schools in Rhode Island to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. The IB Program allows our students to be independent, driven life-long learners. We love supporting our students’ academic achievements!

Big congratulations to junior Ella Procaccianti on being selected by her peers as the 2026 Youth Governor of Rhode Island through the YMCA Model Legislature Program! Ella will represent Rhode Island at the 2026 YMCA Youth Governors Conference in Washington, D.C.,in early June alongside top student civic leaders from across the country.

We are proud of Ella and all she will accomplish!

Educator Spotlight: Meet IB History Teacher and Social Studies Chair Mike Sweeney

FUN FACT

In high school, Mike was the student who hated participating or answering questions in class. He tried every possible way to avoid public speaking. Now, his students can’t get him to stop talking, but his experience gives him deep empathy for those who feel nervous speaking up!  
WHY IB AT PROUT?

Mike loves the strong sense of community at Prout and the welcoming, motivated student body. He appreciates that IB students strive to grow as learners and global citizens. He works to make history engaging, believing that “History should never be boring because it is our story.”

Throwback to the Elizabeth Prout initiative, where our Junior class engaged with Habitat for Humanity at an at-home build site. They learned the power of service and community while helping them hands-on. Go Crusaders!

After a successful season Prout continued to shine in the semi-final trial of RI Legal Education Foundation’s Annual Mock Trial Competition before the Honorable Melissa R. DuBose in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Ella Procaccianti, Zoe Hall and Siena Taliani, put forth a tremendous defense of the criminal case with the help of their witnesses Hayden Gill, Emma Thomas and Gabe Girard.

Our team conducted themselves at an extremely high intellectual and adaptive level, with realism surpassing theatrics. We are so proud of this team!
