📚 A Fascinating Journey Through History at WCUM!

This week, the Woman’s Club of Upper Montclair’s Education and Libraries Department welcomed the multitalented Carol Simon Levin to our Clubhouse for a captivating presentation about Frances Perkins: Mother of the New Deal.

Through her engaging portrayal and storytelling, Carol brought to life the remarkable legacy of Frances Perkins, who made history as America’s first female Cabinet secretary, serving as Secretary of Labor under President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1945.

Thank you, Carol, for an enlightening program celebrating a pioneering woman whose contributions helped shape modern American labor and social policy!

🍂 Another wonderful season has begun at the Woman’s Club of Upper Montclair!

Our annual Opening Luncheon on Wednesday was a joyous occasion filled with warm reunions, lively conversation, and plenty of laughter!

A highlight of the afternoon was hearing from three inspiring and eloquent students from Lacordaire Academy, who shared their experiences attending this summer’s Girls’ Career Institute (GCI). Held at Douglass Residential College on the campus of Rutgers University, GCI offers young women a unique opportunity to explore college life, career possibilities, and leadership development.

A heartfelt thank-you to Janet Oscar and her committee for organizing such a lovely gathering, and to Montclair House Grill for the delicious luncheon! 🍽️

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome our newest members at the inaugural meeting of the Thursday Evening Committee. This new group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30pm, offering programming and community-first opportunities. Participation is open to all current members and is currently welcoming new members who could benefit from later meeting times.
