NJ-AIMH is grateful to have called Michele a friend, an Endorsed Association member, and a member of the Board of Trustees. Her strength and willingness to share her OT knowledge and passion had a lasting effect. She is missed.

Last weekend’s American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) conference was an event we’ll never forget—one filled with both immense pride and a deep sense of missing Michele.

As she was honored with not one, but three of AOTA’s most prestigious awards: the Recognition of Achievement Award, the Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Occupational Therapy, and named to the AOTA Roster of Fellows, we found ourselves celebrating the extraordinary impact she’s had on our field and in the lives of so many families.

At the same time, there was a quiet heaviness—wishing she were there with us to feel the applause, to share in the moment, and to be recognized in person for the passion and dedication she brought to her work every single day.

It’s hard to find the right words to hold both of those feelings at once. But what remains so clear is her legacy continues to shape and inspire us, and we are endlessly proud to carry her work forward.
