🌿 Happy World Environment Day! Today through June 7th, France opens the gates to over 2,800 parks and gardens across Europe for the 23rd edition of Rendez-vous aux jardins, a celebration of living heritage, landscape, and the art of the garden.
France is home to some of the world's most iconic garden traditions, from the grand geometric masterpieces of Le Nôtre at Versailles to intimate medieval herb gardens. With over 400 gardens officially classified as Jardins Remarquables, these spaces are living works of art, as much a part of French cultural heritage as museums or monuments. 🌺
We're proud to support French projects bringing this world to life.
🌸 Fondation Parcs et Jardins de France works to preserve and promote France's extraordinary parks and gardens, championing their history, art, and social, educational, and therapeutic role across Europe and worldwide.
🌻 Art & Jardins Hauts-de-France uses landscape and artistic creation to celebrate remembrance, culture, and biodiversity across the Hauts-de-France and Grand Est regions.
🏛️ Musée de Cluny, the only complete surviving medieval hôtel particulier, is recreating the Abbot's Garden that has been lost since the 19th century. Using historic sources to restore its original boundaries, this ornamental garden will be brought back to life as it existed in the late Middle Ages, as part of the museum's visitor experience. Studies begin in 2026, with completion anticipated in spring 2028. U.S. donors can help make it happen!
