Good News...Both Adopted!!
Parakeets make great pets. By nature they are social birds and don’t like to be left alone. They need interaction for at least 30 to 90 minutes daily. Unfortunately, here at the Shelter it’s nearly impossible to give these two boys the attention required. Know of anyone who’d like to have two parakeets as companions? Please share their post. Let’s make it possible for these two, handsome birds to find their forever home soon.

The Wayne Animal Shelter is located at 201 Pompton Plains Crossroads, just off Rte. 23 at the Jackson Road Exit. Adoption hours are: Tues. & Thurs. 6 to 8PM and Sat. 12 to 4PM, or by appointment call 973-694-0767.

**By the way...because the Parakeets arrived at the Shelter in their own cage, it will also be included with their adoption. **

Morgan is a beautiful Congo African Grey who prefers men. He’s quiet, great appetite, converted to pellets right away.

Baron is a timneh Grey who at times has an attitude. He loves his toys and to be out of his cage all the time. He likes who he likes when he likes them.

It’s been a while since we have had to do a late night emergency surrender. Thanks to our trustee Lora for finding these gals and getting them out of their craigslist fate. While we do not have a lot of info on them we know they haven’t been to a vet, they were being kept in a small area of a dark basement and initial assessment shows tumors all over and a missing eye on one of them and significant feather loss on the other. They of course are going to be in quarantine and treated by our vets. They are super bonded so we are hoping these tumors are not going to be an issue. We haven’t heard names yet but are hopeful as they settle and feel better that they will tell us their names. If you would like to help sponsor these two cuties please let us know :)

Perry and Lana are two sweet lovebirds who are the best of friends but have to live separately and only be together when supervised. Lana started plucking in their last home and Perry decided to help her out with the spots she couldn’t reach...not very nice! But they call and call for each other if they can’t see each other so now they live in separate cages next to each other and have supervised dates daily. So now we have double the trouble and double the needs!
