Celebrated since October 11, 1988, National Coming Out Day was organized to observe the first anniversary of the National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights.

October 11, 1987:
The National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights marked the first public display of of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, and the first time ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) received national media coverage.

Present Day:
Now used as a day of celebration and empowerment, today encourages people to embrace their true selves and live openly, sharing their stories and experiences.

Celebrate!
* Celebrate and support those who are able to come out today, and everyday!
* Share your own story and others to help raise awareness.
* Support and volunteer for organizations who advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights.
* Attend events supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
* Offer support to friends or family who may be coming out today, or in the future.
* Wear rainbow clothing or accessories to show you’re a safe space - stop by the Rainbow UA shop to show your Rainbow UA Pride every day!

* 9am - Rainbow UA opening remarks
* 9:05am - Girl Boss CBus. Isana Sebastian (she/her), Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and Founder/CEO of Girl Boss Cbus, will be joining us to speak about her work and upcoming projects. Girl Boss Cbus aims to amplify and raise awareness for women-led businesses, organizations, and leaders through storytelling, news, events, and collaborative partnerships.
* 9:20am - group/business intros & business card exchange
* 10-10:30am - open networking

We’ll meet on the patio unless there’s rain - sunglasses and a hoodie or jacket have been useful in the past! Look for the Rainbow UA Business Group sign on the tables, and group facilitator Tabi with their Rainbow UA button.
