Come Spring Food Pantry We're a food pantry in Union, ME serving residents in the surrounding areas. We're open the 1st Sat & the 2nd & 4th Wed of every month from 10:00am-1:00pm.

We follow RSU 40 policies for weather closures. We're also home to the Knox County Gleaners! The Come Spring Food Pantry was founded as a community service project for the Come Spring School (a school for children with special needs) over four decades ago! After the school closed the food pantry remained and continues to thrive. It is a 501-C3 organization. Donations to the Come Spring Food Pantry are always welcome! You can mail your financial support to Come Spring Food Pantry PO BOX 524 Union ME 04862. Food, Toiletries, Pet Food, Baby Products, and other non-perishable donations can be dropped off at the food pantry during our Open Pantry Days (1st Sat and 2nd & 4th Wed of each month) from 10am - 1pm as well as Tuesday mornings between 9 - 10 am. The Vose Library has also generously offered to host bins for folks to drop in their non perishable donations. If you'd like to donate perishable food, or you need to arrange another time to drop off donations, please call us at (207) 509-9211. We are also home to the Knox County Gleaners. The gleaners help supply fresh fruits and veggies to residents and help farmers ensure none of their harvest will go to waste. All they have to do is call the Gleaners and we'll come harvest what's left and get it to those that need it! Contact us today at the info above to learn more about this program.

We have a favor to ask - Can We Have Your Empty Egg Cartons? ☺️

We have an incredibly generous farmer that's donating LOADS of quail eggs to the pantry (more on this wonderful 🥚 gift soon!!). But, we don't have enough empty cartons for them. We've already filled up all the ones we had saved up!

So, if you have some clean, empty egg cartons kickin' around your place, we'd love to take them off your hands! You can drop them off at the pantry this Tuesday from 9-10:30am. Or, you can leave them in the blue bins at the Vose Library Union Maine for us to pick up. We can also possibly work something else out if these times don't fit your schedule.

Thank You for your help everyone!!!! 💚

The owners of Hope Orchards, Anna Mason and Kyle Rittenburg, recently approached Come Spring Food Pantry and the Knox County Gleaners, offering an apple gleaning invitation for benefit of our pantry neighbors. Who could refuse such an offer!?! Picking prime orchard apples on a beautiful October morning in a pastoral setting, and being able to offer the bounty to neighbors in need - DEFINITELY!!

But we couldn't have responded to this kind and generous offer without the assistance of the Windplanners! The Windplanners are a group of Camden Hills Regional High School students interested in the environment and sustainability. This student group, together with their advisors, Jamie Gillette and Sarah Mismash, really helped pull the event together for us.

These students picked 374 pounds of Paula Red and Ginger Gold apples - and all proceeds were donated to our pantry!! 💚

PS - We had SO much fun we forgot to take photos!! So please enjoy the beautiful Hope Orchards Sign and Logo :)

A caring reminder from our friends over at Pope Memorial Humane Society - 💚

It's okay to ask for help. If you need temporary help feeding your animals, please call Pope Memorial Humane Society at 207-594-2200. While we cannot guarantee how much or what kind of food we will have available at any given time, we will consider special requests for specific formulas or flavors of pet food (i.e., senior, grain-free, etc.).

In addition to our food assistance program, PMHS partners with Meals on Wheels of Knox County. If you are a Meals on Wheels client, please contact them directly to request food delivery through the MOW program.

When resources allow, PMHS regularly provides local pet food pantries with pet food to help their community members.

*If you call and no one answers, please leave a message. Someone will return your call as soon as they're available.

It's The First Day Of October Today - Which means it's also the first day you can purchase a reusable bag at the Camden, ME Hannaford Supermarkets in support of Come Spring Food Pantry 💚

Hannaford's Fight Hunger Bag program is a wonderful way to help area non-profits, like us :), AND save the planet!! And we're SO grateful that they'd include us in this opportunity. They'll donate $1 to CSFP for every $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag sold during October 2026 at the Camden location!!

So go ahead and grab a bag or 3 and help us keep food on the table for our neighbors too!

The pantry was SO Happy to have the athenahealth volunteers back for another year of Athena Cares service!!! These folks are THE BEST!! They're happy to do anything we throw at them, and they give it their all - even when the activities are definitely less than glamorous!!

We hosted two groups of volunteers and they organized our pantry shelves, cleaned out our refrigerators, bagged up napkins, soap, and pet food, cleaned out our cool bot, and so much more!

And THEN they surprised us with a huge donation of non perishable items they collected for us!!

Thank you to everyone there at Athena Health for continuing to support Come Spring Food Pantry. We're all humbled you keep returning to share your hard work and care. You make such a difference in our community with your generosity. 💚

Our friend who is closing her store donated ANOTHER 200lbs of food to the pantry for a grand total of 400lbs of food given generously to our community!!!! 💚

We've really appreciated the opportunity to share all these wonderful goodies with our shoppers. And interestingly enough, the night before we were called to pick up this 3rd donation, we'd been commenting on how sad it is that we hadn't been able to have any spices on the shelves at the pantry in awhile. And guess what was part of these donations - a gigantic box of mixed spices! 💚

Thank You SO much for thinking of us!!!!!

We have another volunteer spotlight for you! Today we’d like to introduce you to Eileen, one of our valued volunteers at the pantry. We are entirely reliant on people like Eileen, who freely give their time and energy to benefit the community. And we're incredibly grateful for her consistent involvement in the pantry.

Eileen grew up in the Army, living in a number of different states and in Germany. If you know anything about children of military personnel, you know that they are often characterized by adaptability, resilience and comfort in a multi-cultural environment. Eileen credits her upbringing for giving her an appreciation for meeting new people and gaining exposure to many different heritages and traditions.

Now settled in Maine, when Eileen is not working or volunteering, she likes to keep things pretty simple. She loves sewing her own clothes, going for long walks, and observing the beauty of life outside in nature. At home, her life is pretty quiet but there is always plenty of dog play time! Winter is Eileen’s favorite season to be outside: she finds the beauty absolutely stunning.

Eileen works full-time as a speech pathologist in a hospital so when she decided that she wanted to volunteer, she knew that she needed something she could do on the weekends. The ability to work at our Saturday open pantry days is, in part, what brought her to us because it gave her the opportunity to give some of her time without adding another commitment to her already full workweek.

What Eileen enjoys most about the pantry is that it’s just fun: she finds the other volunteers engaging and she very much enjoys the shoppers as well. She finds that there’s a nice energy to being at the pantry, and always enjoys her time here when volunteering here. In Eileen’s words, “It doesn’t feel like a chore: it’s something I look forward to!”

If Eileen were to give new volunteers one piece of advice, it would be pretty simple: “Just have fun. Come in, get to know people, and enjoy being part of it. That’s what makes volunteering at the pantry so rewarding for me.

Thank You For All You Do Eileen!
