Folks! The Pie Social is this Friday night! This could be quite possibly Union's biggest night ever and we want YOU to be a part of it!

This Friday kicks off the 250th birthday of Union - an opening ceremony at 4 PM

AND the pie social at 5:30 with the FREE Blue Hill Brass concert on the bandstand!

All proceeds go to the Union Area Chamber Scholarship Fund!

We will sell pie for $5 per slice until it's sold out, which means probably into the

AMAZING free concert Enter the Haggis that Holly and Buddy Savage from the former Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery have sponsored to thank the people of Union. We are super grateful for this! This is a FREE concert.

PARKING FOR THIS EVENT IS AT THE UNION FAIR GROUNDS WITH SHUTTLES RUNNING TO THE COMMON. THE COMMON ROAD WILL BE CLOSED.

WE NEED YOU!

You know how we are all so busy and would love to help but don't have much time? I have the perfect small task that would help us HUGE!

Please consider baking a pie (or purchasing from Beth's Farm, Schoolhouse Farms or and local pie baker) for the amazing, magical, lovely, annual Pie Social the Union Area Chamber puts on every year. The event is Friday, July 19 at 5:30 PM. Pies can be dropped off at The Common Market that day by 4:30 PM. If you need to drop off sooner, please feel free to call me at 207-790-3960.

The event is on the Union Common. This year we are doing the event in conjunction with Union's 250th Birthday Celebration. So there will be lots going on and YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT!

We also have the Brass Trio Band coming to perform at the Band Stand starting at 5:30. All sponsored by you and the Union Area Chamber of Commerce!

Just like all of you, we love this quintessential, Maine summertime event! We feel like we are in a Norman Rockwell painting!

What type of pies do we need? You name it! Blueberry, Pecan, Apple, Peach, Triple Berry, Key Lime, Chocolate Cream, Peanut Butter, Strawberry Rhubarb, Cherry, Coconut Cream, Banana Cream, Lemon Meringue, and probably some I am missing!

We thank you in advance for your help! We appreciate you!

We are proud to feature Two Rock Ridge Farm!

Sometimes I wish there were a magic formula to preserve what is best through out the ages, capturing the way they did it in the good ol’ days, while blending in the best of modern technology. That is just what these salt-of-the earth farmers are doing. Jeff and Stephanie have been implementing the modern day buzz words - environmentally friendly, sustainable living, conservation, renewable energy sources and framing not only a house from them, but also a business and a life - Two Rock Ridge Farm since 2011. Reclaiming the land their family has been farming since the 1930’s. They are taking hold of the best parts of cutting edge ideas to help them live in the rhythms of the past - an off the grid lifestyle. Allowing the sun to produce the power for themselves and their animals which includes a hydrant water system to water the animals that is frost free. While letting the seasons, the amount of daylight, the well-being of their livestock, tell them what to produce and when. They raise local beef, chicken and eggs (coming soon), you can purchase by appointment. And soon will be embarking on raising pigs in the winter to implement the most humane and cleanest farming methods for these animals. A Polynesian method they learned from a farmer downeast that includes adding wood chips to the pen daily - and once not in use, covering the wood chips, sun baking them and producing compost to sell. They also grow a garlic that might become their own strand and cloudy maple syrup - the old fashioned good stuff with less of the processing.

We are thankful these conservationist farmers have been bringing commerce to our region for over a decade. Well done, Jeff and Stephanie!

We are proud to feature Sennebec Lake Campground!

Vision has a lot of origination points but sometimes it starts with two people born in the same hospital in the same town in Poland (not Maine but the country!) who never met until their lives were joined together later in life in a love story in America. This is Ray and Gabriela, the owners of Sennebec Lake Campground, whose love story expanded to creating a life of hospitality and travel. Their dreams are taking shape in a major way in their third season here in Appleton, Maine. Lucky us! Because their property includes 38 acres, 2000 feet of shoreline, over 118 campsites, sewered RV sites, a shower house, a lodge for parties or weddings up to 100, a camp store, golf cart rentals, a brand new boat marina AND, folks, get this, a glamping village that includes beds and refrigerators! It’s hard to believe we have something so amazing in our community! When Ray and Gabby aren’t hosting hundreds of new and seasoned campers, they are spending the winter in Portugal or traveling from Maine to California and back in their Airstream or who knows where next. They have brought new life to a business that has been part of this community as long as I have been alive and created a great life here in Maine and we are grateful to be a part of it.

Well done Gabby and Ray! Thank you for bringing so much commerce to our region!

We are proud to feature The David Robbins Homestead Bed & Breakfast!

In a world where we are bombarded with "do it yourself" from the grocery store to the airport to ordering a cup of coffee at a fast food restaurant, we are inundated with kiosks, voice menus, codes and robocallers. Service is the new luxury and you will find just that at The David Robbins Homestead. Indulge yourself in peace, tranquility, a made-to-order, Euro-style breakfast and be personally welcomed by your hosts Tom and Yvonne at this traditional bed + breakfast. This gorgeous property has been part of the town's history from the beginning - it has kept the best parts of its original charm but has all the modern conveniences to create an atmosphere for rest and relaxation. There are three guest bedrooms adorned with locally made furniture , beautiful art and wide-pine floors, a dock to launch your kayak or canoe, and plenty of shoreline to cast a line or two. It doesn't get more magical than this - beautiful accommodations, 10 private acres, the sounds of loons and all just a short drive to Camden, Rockland, Belfast, Damariscotta and Wiscasset. We are proud that this property has been bringing commerce to the Mid-Coast for decades and has been part of our community since before Union was a town.

Well done, Tom and Yvonne!
