The ReStore recycles overstocked, seconds, used, discontinued and salvageable building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are used in two ways: first to build simple, decent housed for low-income families serving the Habitat for Humanity mission, and also to be resold to the general public to finance building projects. Habitat for Humanity of
Midcoast Maine describes the purpose of the ReStore project as a support of the global vision of Habitat of Humanity through the recycling of building materials, pre-owed furniture, appliances and more. This is done mainly in four ways: 1. Environmental - being good stewards of valuable, natural resources. 2. Economic - reducing landfill disposal cost for builders. 3. Social - providing inexpensive material for home revitalization. 4. Partnering - serving as a financial partner in the construction of Habitat homes by providing us useable material for the construction of its home.
